  1. Final estimate: 15-16 inches. 17F/-4F, sunny and light winds. Beautiful winter day.
  2. We definintely went over a foot. Hard to tell how much fell since 4 PM but it seems like as much as fell before that. Doesn't make sense, but my neighbor's yard is so thickly covered that the dogs are having a hard time getting around and they're good sized dogs.
  3. Still cominng down at a good rate. About a foot maybe even a little more. We've put a couple of inches on in the last couple hours. Be interesting to see the final score here in Worcester. Nothing like the craziness to our east, but not something to dismiss either.
  4. Not an epic storm here, but a good one. Temp now 10 F, snowing decently. The wind earlier today was awesome. Shoveling sand when I expected fluff, not so awesome. A few years ago I would have been bummed out to see so much more falling to our east and south. Now, halfway through my sixties, I can enjoy a wild New England snow day and be happy for the guys and gals who love a good blizzard but usually get screwed because of their location.
  5. We're neighbors. My street dead ends on the park, off Lincoln on one of our near vertical hills.
  6. NE Worcester. Report from nearby said 8 inches at 3:12 but it seems a bit low--actually a good bit low. More like 10 here but not easy to tell. Snowing pretty decent now.
  7. Coming down harder now, flake seem a bit larger. Visibility is about 1/4 mile. Its been low all day but the flakes have been microscopic. Still a good 10 - 12 by the end, maybe a bit more. My front steps and walk were obliterated ( 3 ft + drifts) while the other side of the house is just a couple of inches.
  8. 11F/9 tiny flakes all day. Hard to tell but from experience with storms like this I'd say 8-10 inches (in reality trace to 3 feet with wind). Like shoveling sand between the wind and the high density. Kind of weird. The light fluffy stuff must have stayed under the heavy bands. We may wrap it up with a foot when all is said and done--especially if we luck out and squeeze something out of the remaining few hours. Wind seems to have abated slightly and turned pretty much due north.
  9. Good to see some of the places that normally get screwed being under the death bands. There will be some crazy totals in a narrow area. If there hadn't been so much hype about the extreme possibilities a lot of people would just be happy to have a significant nor'easter. Its a wild day out there here in Worcester. We'll get somewhere between 8 and maybe 15 in the sweet spots. Average out in the 10-12 range. Good storm. Not historic, but good enough. 16/15 wind is outrageous here on my hill.
  10. What time is the main event supposed to end in Central Mass? If it keeps going as is until say 5 PM we might end up with a foot out of it here. Hard to tell with all the blowing what we have but I would guess somewhere in the 6 - 7 inch range. Good storm but nothing like what the coast is seeing. No complaints here.
  11. 15/14 visibility really dropped for awhile. A little better now. Can't even guess on snow amount due to wind. This is a good snowstorm, but hardly historic here in Worcester.
  12. 15F/14 Tiny flakes, visibility under a quater mile in mod ? snow, blowing snow, and fog. Wind is the real big deal right now.
  13. 28/15 sun showing dimly through thin clouds. Let's cheer this one on for James. Really lousy that that SOB Covid took him. May his memory be eternal! Give them one they'll remember kid.
  14. So, come Tuesday, a half inch-to an inch of ice in my yard. Kinda like today. At least there will be some frigid weather to keep things going. Who knows, at this rate by mid February it'll be 4 -5 inches of accumulated ice in the back yard. In the immortal words of the Wicked Witch of the West, "What a World!" At least the melt downs here (for the most part) avoid politics and Covid. I'll take a knock out fight about how long the 40's are going to last in my neighborhood over another Fauci-Paul s**tfest in the monkey house any day.
  15. Looks like some awesome LE snow potential up on the UP of Michigan! Would love to spend some time up that way some day. BTW what is the average 850 mb temp in our region this time of year?
  16. Nice to see CNE and NNE get in on a pretty pre-Christmas snow. Would love to share in it, but glad someone is going to enjoy it. I'd be happy to see the ground stay white through Christmas down this way, but thats a strectch. Maybe a couple of spots in the shade lol.
  17. So all evened out maybe about normal to slightly above temps and same for snowfall for most of SNE and maybe some really good hits for NNE? Remember a year like that about ten years or so ago.
  18. Weenie up everyone. A white Christmas for all. Event on Dec 22 or 23 could bring snow all the way to the coast before its over. How can I be so sure? Because wishful thinking guides everything else these days, so why not? Reality check seems to show some changes by then anyhow and we about due for an anti-Grinch storm.
  19. Things must be pretty dismal out there for a cyber fist fight to break out over the MJO. Outside of (perhaps)south coastal NE and the Cape and Islands it will be a white Christmas for everyone. if we count Russian Orthodox Christmas (Jan 7 by the Gregorian calendar) even those left out on Dec 25 will end up with snow on the ground. The MOJO is absolutely clear about this. Even a monkey's uncle could figure that one out. PS Don't ever underestimate the power of wishful weenie thinking.
  20. Nothing like a pattern change (short term or long) just before Christmas. Major snowstorm around the 20-22. Below freezing temps through New Year (at least) so kids on vacation can enjoy their sleds, skis, whatever during the Christmas break. This far out dreaming of a white Christmas is more entertaining than dreaming about the annual grinch storm.
  21. Looks like a potentially good hit for N Central MA back to the Berkshires. We would be snow to mix to some rain here in Worcester. Snow maps a bit confusing though.
