That's what I have my parents do too.

I run it under hot water to speed it up (i.e., place it in a bowl in the sink and run hot water over the outside and into the bowl). That speeds things up somewhat.

It should be considered a felony to melt that beautiful snow :(

BTW Ray, your brother wont be happy-- JFK stayed all snow, but it might not matter as this storm could be over by the time he's scheduled to leave.

When I was talking to my parents they had me look up his flight because he had called and asked if I could find out anything... its delayed 95 minutes :axe:

Looks like it's done here. Partly cloudy with the sky brightening (can see the distinct cloud line heading east along a front).

OBS

Partly Cloudy

Temp 31.3 F and falling rapidly (it was > 34 F earlier w/ lt snow and fog)

Winds light out of the NW

Ballpark measurement is 2 ", The stuff is wet and probably compacted and there are ice cycles forming now. Looks like the cold air is on its way now.

I am impressed to say that overall, the GFS seems to have done best QPF wise by far. In between the flaky but generaly wet NAM and GEM, and the dry EC...

GEM wasn't too wet in my opinion. I think it was right on as well.

0.20"-0.40" across most of eastern PA for the past 36-48 hours.
