Low of 41. I haven’t had a freeze/frost here yet. Still plucking tomatoes off the vine, although they seem to be wrapping up.

I picked nearly 3 dozen Jet Stars last week and told my wife that was a wrap.

Last evening, I picked 10 more! My tomatoes are still going.

Today we should see highs from upper 50's in ridge locations to the low 60's in valley spots. The NWS has issued a freeze watch for tonight with temperatures near freezing or below in valley locations to just above freezing on the ridge tops. By Sunday morning we should see lows in the low to mid 30's with a freeze possible in the colder valleys! Temperatures will run about 5 degrees below normal this weekend before we return to near normal by Monday, but by Tuesday we warm to about 4 degrees above normal. We look to stay dry through next Friday according to the ChescoWx model. Of note 154 years ago today back in 1872 the Chester County Area was at the start of a 4 day storm that left as much as 2.62" of rain at Pocopson. This was an unnamed tropical storm which tracked within about 50 miles of the county.

@ChescoWx

"When you hear claims that “the science is settled,” remember that the science is built on data that has been repeatedly altered. But if the proof relies on manipulated data, then the case collapses."

So produce the data that refutes it in a reputable study using scientific methodology, have it stand up to peer review and scientific scrutiny, and publish the results.  Nothing is stopping anyone from doing this.  But without producing such studies you are doing exactly what you are accusing the scientific community of doing.  Worse, you aren't even doing the work, you're just "saying stuff" on the internet.  Anyone can say absolutely anything.  Objective evidence is what is needed for a claim to be taken seriously.

Currently there are no credible scientific studies that prove humans are not contributing to climate change.  NASA https://science.nasa.gov/climate-change/scientific-consensus/

Reports or articles arguing against human-caused climate change typically originate from advocacy groups, political think tanks, or non-peer-reviewed blogs (such as the Heartland Institute or CLINTEL) rather than accredited scientific research institutions.

Nothing brings a weather forum to a grinding halt more than posts about climate change.

I await Chesco's response.

I address all of this and more over under climate change where this belongs...to not clog up the good folks here with non observation stuff! Thanks!!

For those on Team Snow while rare we have had significant snowstorms as early as October. Below are our top such snowstorms. The biggest one occurred just 15 years ago back in 2011. On the website https://chescowx.com/top-snowfalls-by-month/ you do this for all months and even drill down into each storm to see the individual amounts across the area.

Save us the sanctimonious passive aggressive narrative.  You have a giant quote that shows up under every single one of your posts like a billboard.

There's fossil fuel companies out there like Exxon Mobil who would stand to profit in the trillions if it was figured out that the burning of their products does not contribute to a rise in global temperatures. Insurance companies, the agriculture industry, etc, would benefit massively if it was found that the globe isn't warming. You should submit your data for Chester County, PA to some sort of scientific panel to help benefit the whole of humanity. Once they learn that Chester County, PA shows no statistical warming, the entirety of the globe's warming trend will be discounted entirely.

That great deep data is indeed publically available for all to use with the detailed data sources for support and verification. I hope it helps! Thanks for the support Cobalt!

too bad Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota (Population 9,477) does show a warming trend rather than a lack of one, which offsets any lack of a warming trend shown by Chester County, Pennsylvania

Psst! you may not realize but those are altered adjusted temperatures not the actual temps!

Where does October sit for above normal temps? It feels very warm, no need for heater at all and usually always. We need it by now.

Through October 22 - 2026 is warmer than usual but not close to a record. County mean for Oct 1–22: 58.9°F, from 19 stations. That makes it the 34th-warmest of 139 Oct 1–22 periods that had at least 2 stations reporting. The anomaly composite ranks it lower, 53rd of 139 (+1.0°F against each station’s own long-term mean). The gap is mostly because the network has changed over time, which the composite corrects for, so the naive rank flatters 2026 a little. Compared with recent years, it’s warmer than 2019–2020 and 2022–2025, but behind 2016 (59.3°F), 2017 (62.0°F) and 2021 (62.4°F). The record is out of reach. The warmest Oct 1–22 on record is 1941 at 64.7°F, then 2007 (63.8°F) and 1914 (63.0°F). Getting into the top 10 would take about 61°F, more than 2°F above where we are now.

If you got the data from NCEI like below it most certainly is altered adjusted data!image.thumb.png.9e6e40abfd3ab9efa0105d28e38568bd.png

If you have an issue with the climate data on Yellow Medicine County, MN (Population 9,477), please care to refute it in the appropriate thread.
