Your elevation is just a little short of 2000 correct? I was having a conversation with some of the guys on Mike Witchers private weatherboard and I was telling them about your location and how much better you do than 90% of East Tennessee outside the mountains. We have several people on Mike’s board who are close to the Tn boarder, east of 75 to Bristol in areas that you don’t hear about very often just because they’re so rural. That area close to the Tennessee State line east of 75 is in a completely different climate than the majority of East Tennessee outside the mountains. They send in a lot of pictures from their communities when it snows and when Knoxville gets flurries, it’s just about guaranteed those areas that I was talking about are going to get an inch or so. This one guy lives in Church Hill area and I’m not sure they have had school up there one full week since it got cold in January.

Nice little dusting IMBY which occurred over the past couple of hours.  Chalk up a "trace" at my house.

Measurements varied 2 to 3". Some shady Area's had 3. Ground was warm so makes sense. Also some melting underneath was noted early last night even with ambient Temperature in low 20's. Got down to 18 this Morning.

Ended up with about 1/3in in grass and wood surfaces but the roads also caved a little this morning. Several school districts are out today. It’s still snowing pretty well in town right now as I type this.

Flurries and lt Snshrs continue here with a Temperature of 24. Rather fast melting is occurring from underneath. Ground Temp's are still giving.off heat. Some melting from Solar as well .

Two totally different camps on the mid to long range.  One says what cold temps.  The other says cold!!!

Yes. Around 1750. Elevation, even a few hundred feet, makes a difference here. There's 2.5 inches at my relative's house at 2500 feet. 

 

It's been snowing decently this afternoon at times. We had some fluffy quarters falling a few minutes ago. Temp has gotten to to 25.

Snow is actually picking up here as it often does when dark approaches during NW flow. Peaked at 25 on a 32 degree forecast. Down to 23.8 as the sun goes behind the big ridge to my west. It's not sunny at all, but it still gives energy through the clouds this time of year as Daniel Boone noted. I did retain snow-cover today though.
