Long range looks super hot and mostly dry. Not good.

I think it’s going to get significantly worse before it gets better. I do think the fire hose turns on eventually but I’m not optimistic that happens before Sept

Every El Niño is different of course. But based on past very strong El Ninos, the firehose of ST moisture for much of the SE doesn’t usually fully turn on until Nov or after the main part of the ATL tropical season is over.

If that's the case, fire danger will be extreme this fall until the wetter pattern sets in.

.33” last night and not gonna complain a bit. I truly wasn’t expecting it and at least that amount was easy to soak in. I hope more of us can cash in today. We have a huge wildcard lining up in the forecast with tropical development.

I received 0.35 inch last night but only 0.06 inch of rain today. Lots of thunder and lightning in both cases, but not much actual rainfall to show for it.

.58” last night and today.
.42” came today though.

My PWS at home registered a high of 101.2 F today.

When I left work at 5:30, my sun-baked car thermometer parked on blacktop registered 105 F.

When I parked in the full shade at church this evening, I remained in the car for about ten minutes until 6:00. The car thermometer held firm at 99F, all that time, in full shade.

My PWS registered a high of 103.6 F this afternoon just before 4:00, 0.1 F higher than yesterday.

Driving around town about the same time, our other car’s thermometer hit 108 F near the Target shopping center! While driving. Not parked on the asphalt somewhere. That’s insane.

I can’t stand this heat. It’s horrible. It’s currently 95.2 F at home, in the shade.
