2025 Spring/Summer Mountain Thread

Asheville airports normal is 84 and 63 currently. We will only be about 5 degrees above normal this week and we will be hitting right at normal for lows. Actually my current temp is 59.

SPC Convective Outlook for our region Wednesday, June 25: 

...Southeast...
   Strong instability will develop during the afternoon over much of
   the region, with 2000-3000 J/kg MLCAPE common. Of note will be
   midlevel lapse rates greater than 7.0 C/km, suggesting robust
   convection is likely. Storms are expected to form around 21Z over
   the high terrain, and within a surface trough during peak heating
   over the central Carolinas. Slow moving at first, storms will form
   into clusters, with erratic motions possible. However, a general
   southerly trends is expected. The high PWAT content, steep lapse
   rates, and favorable time of day all suggest areas of damaging
   microbursts will develop. As such, the area has been upgraded to a
   Slight Risk.

   Scattered storms are expected farther south into GA, AL, and the FL
   Panhandle as well, within a southwest extension of the surface
   trough, and, possibly with the sea breeze. Forecast soundings in
   this region similarly show very strong instability, with
   west/southwest moving storm clusters likely producing damaging wind
   gusts.

Yeah Thunderstorms are going to be roaring back to life in the mountains starting tomorrow through the weekend.

Yep looks like some big storms blowing up. So much for the heat and drought talk by some. This is run of the Mill stuff we are dealing with.

Pulse storms are popping this afternoon for Mountain Folk. Hopefully we'll see some cooling rain locally after a high of 88.

Looks like south central mountains are getting hit. NWS says im at 72 with a storm.

We had a lot of thunder but no rain. Temperature did drop from 87 to 77 in an hour and it's currently 73. If the Slight Risk holds tomorrow, fingers crossed we get some rain locally.

Currently 89.3. I made it to 96.3 yesterday. Highest temp in many years here.

Storms already firing in Haywood and down into Jackson County.  I know home has already seen two storms this morning.

Yeah some big storms blowing up in Haywood today and this evening.  The current storm is very impressive with lots of lightning. We've cooled down to 66 also.

Same here. I hear all the thunder, but no rain. The radar lights up, but not here. 3 days ago, I had .09. Nothing since.

Had a hair north of an inch yesterday evening of rainfall..ended up having a low of 58 this morning.  Freaking beautiful.

I finally got some rain last evening! My low this morning was 60 which felt so refreshing after a few days of very warm weather.

Been listening to it thunder south of here since like noon, storm around Cantsn may finally creep over the mountain but I’d be fine if it didn’t.  Felt good for late June on the front porch this morning.

Yeah that storm washed Canton out. Looks really unsettled in general in our area.
