Sooo windy here on the immediate coast blowing from the NE. Not good for us obviously with the warmer waters but hopefully this afternoon when the cold front presses south we turn to the northwest or west. Otherwise there won't be much from Norfolk through Virginia Beach down through my area. It's all about the winds. Not expecting any flakes until around 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. down this way. Up by you, you should start seeing something around 1:00 p.m. maybe sooner.

Yes looking at the reflectivity bright banding shows some fatties to your southwest. I might cash in at the tail end of the event when it's pulling away. Keep us posted with some observations today please. Really can't ask for a better monday.

Hopefully we'll see have a few good hours of precip when that wind shift finally happens

That colder dryer air is pressing between Fredericksburg and Richmond right now. We need that low to crank to pull that down into the system for us to make any hay. eaglesin2011
If you look at the traffic cams I posted earlier it’s still not cold enough to even have snow on the main roads all the way into UVA Charlottesville currently.. https://511.vdot.virginia.gov/ I wouldn’t expect this area(Richmond/Short pump) to have any issues with the main roads at least until after 1pm or so .. This is going to be a mainly grass event in this area for the next few hours at least

rbrewbaker
Been snowing moderately for at least an hour near Carytown but only slight hint of sticking on high roof of house - nothing any where else since still showing 36 as temp - don't think folks though temps were going to be an issue but sure are at this point

DJnVa
Traffic cams show it really coming down on I-64 northwest of Richmond, just past Gum Springs. Midlo Snow Maker
Elevation was key to early stickage in Powhatan. Higher elevation tops at windy hill and red lane hill where white, while lower areas around 288 and 711 had hardly anything, but this was an hour ago.
