MN Transplant
Interesting side note - if we hit 97 today, which is entirely possible, this month will break into the top-5 warmest Augusts on record at DCA. Check.
aldie 22
89.5 for highs in August. That would place this August 8th all-time for highs, ahead of all but: 1900 1943 1980 1983 1988 1995 2002 weenie -> 1995 and 2002 <-

Ian
Oh well. Would have tied 1930 for 98+ record. Have not looked at 97. Kinda arbitrary anyway.

Of course, we could use C and look for 35+ days.
CranberryWX
Yay! A rain shower in progress. Charleston, WV will probably end up setting a record for driest August ever and the third driest month on record. Records go back to The 1890s. RodneyS
Yay! A rain shower in progress. Charleston, WV will probably end up setting a record for driest August ever and the third driest month on record. Records go back to The 1890s. August was not that far below normal at DCA, but there have now been an unprecedented eight straight months of below normal precipitation at the beginning of the year. On the other hand, the January-August 2012 total was 18.71 inches, which ranks only as the sixth driest in DC history [behind 1872 (tied for 3rd driest), 1930 (driest), 1957 (tied for 3rd driest), 1991 (second driest), and 2002 (5th driest)].
