Extreme Rainfall Following Summer Heat In The East

Recommended Posts

2011 will enter the record books as another summer when big heat in the East was followed by extreme rainfall amounts and major flooding.

I looked for periods when areas of the East picked up close to or in excess of 20 inches of rainfall following

near or record breaking summer heat. These years featured direct or indirect input form the tropics. Some

years the TC's held together and other years remnant moisture contributed to the record rainfall.I am focusing

on the areas from around North Carolina to New England.

Those years had a -PDO +AMO pattern like the other years in my earlier posts.

The -PDO developed by the fall of 2005 though.
