Got my radar pages up and running. Use StormLab software to do this and combine metar obs on top of the radar image. Pretty cool...

Right now I have BHM, HSV, BNA, TYS, ATL, GSP, CAE and RDU base reflectivity up. Plus you can now loop any of the sites with my Flash loop which you can see the metars obs change and the radar loops thru the 12 frames.

If you prefer to use a "Flash" loop of FFC then use this link: personally I like the flash animation better than Java.

Got GSP, ATL and CAE back up. They are now using the new NWS HiRes radar data but I tweaked the color scale to match the traditional NWS colors. My flash loop for some reason is not working on my firefox brower. Can anyone else use the FFC flash loop link on the first post?

Worked great using both.

Thanks! Found out the problem is my Firefox on my local machine. For some reason it's not doing flash very well.

Edit...fixed my FireFox issue. Had to reinstall FireFox and all works normal now.:arrowhead:

Here's a capture from Banner Elk, NC live webcam to go with your Greenvillle, SC base reflect radar link:

For some reason, I hear "Anticipation'" - Carly Simon in my head for all those on the board. LOL!!

I still have not fixed the loops on my radar page...sorry about that...just can't find the time and I'm not very good at programming so it takes me forever. All of the "loop" links on my radar pages will pull up the FFC loop but all the non looping pages are working fine.

OK...so I was tardy getting the flash loops working but at least they work now. If you have previously bookmarked my site all the links have changed so see the first post of this topic or start with the link below and then re-bookmark your favorite site.

Good job Jason!

Can your Stormlab be setup to automatically begin publishing to the web on startup? The one thing I don't like about GRLevel3 is I have to manually start the web process, you can't make it automatic. Every time I restart the computer I have to remember to restart the web publishing, it's kind of a pain.

Thanks AshevilleDon and Dacula!!

Yes. Personally I wanted to use GRLevel3 but ran into two issues:

1) Manually restart after reboot like you stated.

2) It has to be open and running on the current "user" of the machine or it won't upload. I only have one PC at home (a windows 7 Dell) but I set up 2 users. One of my users is called "Weather" where I keep Weatherlink and StormLab open and running. I can then switch users to my "Main" user so I can do my computer stuff without having all these weather programs open on the bottom taskbar and having to worry about my kids closing them or something.

I've been using SL for years and tried to change my web stuff to GRLevel3 but just couldn't make it work as good. As far as web publishing goes IMHO SL blows away GR if you are serving up multiple sites. Now with SL I have to use this "loop_builder" script that someone wrote for it as it creates a nice loop file name list that is needed for the Flash loop code. SL uploads images with a time/data stamp rather than just 0 thru 12 like GRLevel3. But with the free "loop_builder" script it works great. Right now I have 8 radar windows open (850x900) in size and uploading and the SL memory usage sits at 61k which is not bad. The only thing SL will not do is that neat "Smoothing" feature that GRLevel3 does. Also the Metar overlays are built into the SL software and IMHO look better on the radar than the GRLevel3 stuff.

SL does have all those hail/storm rotation type of alarm icons that will pop on the screen like GRLevel3 but I have not messed with it all that much.

Oh yeah....to autoload the sites is easy. In the SL software you just "bookmark" the radar product you want to automatically open when the SL software is open. So when you open the software then all the "bookmarked" products just automatically open and start uploading (if that's they way you configure it).

Evan, the developer of SL, is open to ideas on tweaks to the software. I was a beta tester for the latest version 4 and bug fixes were usually quick. Since my main use of the product is just uploading images I was able to weed out FTP issues because if anyone would have any uploading type issues it would be me since I did a ton of it.

That's the other thing about GRLevel3, it doesn't actually create the images in a folder or something, it's on the fly as it uploads. I use Fling to do most of my FTP stuff as it's a lot more stable than the ftp in the weather apps I use.

And yes, GRLevel3 kinda sucks at multiple sites. Not that it can't be done because I do it when we have storms, but it's just not as simple as it should be. I might look into StormLab

I let the SL software do the FTP work and it works great. Version 3 of the software had some bugs that all my heavy FTP use was able to identify and Evan fixed all of them.

Regarding the folder thing that is another plus for SL. You have the flexibility to specify what folder you want the image to upload to and also if you want it to save a copy in a local folder at the same time which is great if you want to "archive" a storm on your local machine or something.

Oh yeah...and you can do all those topo backgrounds too...I just have not messed with that stuff yet.

How do you do multiple sites with StormLab? As you know with GRLevel3, you open up a new instance of the program. Another thing about GRL3, I wish you could assign a set of placefiles to each radar site. I might want certain things displaying for certain sites. and of course, as it is, you just have the one placefile manager that's generic for all sites. You basically have to redefine everything for each instance of the application.
