RUNNAWAYICEBERG
Do you also root for higher gas prices?? Who the hell in their right mind would want it to get colder now??? yeaaaaa, a couple days in the 30's with chances of snow does not equate to higher gas prices. world events, wall st, etc..... and frankly, alot of weather geeks welcome a late season snowstorm. Allsnow
hr 126 the euro has preciep into the area.....850's are south of phl, but surface is way up north...2m temps are in the mid 30's.....
ag3
12z euro soundings for LGA. 850's are fine the entire event. Surface starts at 38 and drops to 33. .43" of QPF falls. I would guess about .10"-.20" of that is a rain/slop mix and then wet snow. Verbatim, probably 1"-2" of snow on grassy surfaces. HPN is very similar, except surface starts at 36 and drops to 33. JFK is also almost exact copy of HPN. 850's for everyone start at -3 and drop to -6.5 Thicknesses for everyone are 542 and drop to 533. The bad thing is that the real precip doesnt get in here until Wednesday 12z and falls thru Thursday 6z. Most of the precip falls during day and thats why surface temps are struggling to get colder. 925 temps are below zero from beginning. So it appears its just a shallow layer of 33-38 right at the surface.
ag3
DC, which was very close to all snow and 8"+ on last nights run, is now torched at 850 and surface and is 95% rain. Shows that everything bumped north.
NEG NAO
DC, which was very close to all snow and 8"+ on last nights run, is now torched at 850 and surface and is 95% rain. Shows that everything bumped north. which was expected by just about everyone - these folks that are saying that snow can't accumulate during the daytime are mistaken - if the temp is 33 or 34 and there is any type of moderate to heavier intensity snow will accumulate If anyone wants proof of temps in the mid 30's and snow being able to accumulate - March 28 -29 , 1984 - 3 inches at newark temps in the mid 30's http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KEWR/1984/3/29/DailyHistory.html
