  1. Hadley cell expansion has been ongoing for the past 50+ years as confirmed by temp and precip data across the sub-tropical regions globally. An expansion would cause a slight poleward shift in the arid environments typically located around 30 deg N and S by a few degrees. This puts an expansion in the desert climates, and larger scale meridional patterns we see in the Mid-Latitudes to be further enhanced due to increased movement of tropical air poleward. This would likely allow for greater precip fields further north, but also a slightly warmer advection of air due to the increasing meridional component of the trough/ridge patterns present between 30-60N or S. Basically, an expansion will lead to more volatility in the undulating upper air patterns, warmer temps to move poleward, and increased baroclinicity due to the basic longwave feedback mechanisms that take shape in our neck of the woods. The earth is just trying to do what it needs to do to remain in balance!
  2. That's a top tier sunrise shot there, Mike. Enjoy!
  3. This is very true and supported by my friend who is an EM with Jefferson Co in Alabama. That's the Birmingham area, and she said they had to put out a grassroots effort to help persuade a lot of the older AA generations due to their fear of any vaccines after the whole debacle with eugenics back in the 70s and 80s. A lot of them refuse any and all vaccines, which is a dang shame. Those people in the black belt really got F'd over historically, and they still can't recover because of the generational dogma they get put through in the south. Jefferson Co has done a fantastic job on a local basis in getting vaccination support, but outside the urban corridor, it's been very tough. The dynamic of the south is very different from the rest of the country, and living here for 3 years now has shed some light on that, even locally. I've heard derogatory use of the N word more times in 3 years here than I ever have in my 28 years living back in MD. There's a fair amount of openly racist people in this area, including Hispanic males who have some very nasty opinions of AA males for some reason. Any who, that's my anecdotal addition to this convo. I wish everyone would get vaxxed who can, but it's their choice. My wife was super high risk for Covid thanks to her myriad of heart issues, so I'm thankful we both were able to get it early on. Was scared Sh**less last year cuz she doesn't even do well with a common cold. I don't want to try Covid. She can't take any meds that can prolong a QT for her heart. That pretty much absolves 90% of the market. We made it though, thankfully. It got wicked scary out here twice.
  4. Oh man. Just now seeing this. Happy Birthday Don!! Hope it was awesome my man
  5. Happy 4th my friends! Enjoy the day with family, friends, food, and fun!
  6. Made this tasty meal the other night. Cajun shrimp scampi. Absolutely fantastic and packed with flavor. .
  7. Remember to, "Need to run to the store...", a few times this weekend It's a good way to break from the noise

  9. I'm just a Newbie. Nobody appreciates their neighborhood Meteorologist, I tell ya
  10. I can take or leave beer..... Ducks
  11. The ticket cost for me isn't nearly as bad a deterrent as the no outside food or drink. That's just ridiculous. The cost of paying player and manager/coaches is paramount to have some decent revenue from tickets, but of course merchandising, TV contract, and concession costs help bring it all together. If parking wasn't so insane, it wouldn't be a problem I feel. They are cheaper than other teams I've seen play. When the product is good, the cost becomes less of an issue, but 20 of 23 years of sucking certainly doesn't bring joy to going to games, especially when they are THIS bad.
  12. I'll definitely have to pick and choose sleep, work, and football lol. Knowing me, I'll still make time for Ravens watching. Even if I have a kid on each arm, I'll be that guy haha
  13. I like hockey, but I just can't get into it with my schedule. I follow the Caps and keep up a little with the league, but nothing like the NFL. College Football is fun to watch, but I'm like you with having it on in the background, but not glued. I like baseball, but attending games is worlds more fun than watching on TV. I have basically stopped watching much basketball at all. I follow here and there, but offer no time to actually watch it.
  14. The race to the bottom is on, and man is it BRUTAL to watch. We have flashes of talent this season, but the pitching is literally another level of bad, outside Means. As for football watching, NFL will always be with me forever. I love it way too much, but I officially gave up almost all my fantasy football teams, outside a fun family league I've been doing with my friend since Senior year of High School. I do Draft Kings now, but that's easier to balance with my current schedule of work and life. Once I got married, I try to spend time with my partner in crime, and I love every minute of it. She knows how big a Ravens fan I am, so she lets me have my fun, but I will break from watching once the game is over if she wants to spend time with me. We both love baseball too, so that is really nice to just put on a ball game and watch together, go to games and new stadiums, etc. All about balance! But, NFL will be my love for all eternity. College atmosphere is cool, but there's some parody, it doesn't excite me at all.
  15. I’m definitely late to this, but had some really good food over the past few weeks. I mentioned that I was going to make a special dinner for my wife and I for our anniversary, and it turned out spectacular. This was an American Wagyu filet cooked medium-rare on a cast iron pan. Butter and garlic basted while cooking, and seasoned with kosher salt, fresh ground pepper, and a touch of garlic powder. It was “melt in your mouth” good. Served with a side of hand cut fries and roasted asparagus. Wife was super happy with it, so that was a home run. Looking forward to doing a Wagyu ribeye another time from the same local butcher. Next on the list was a delicious sharing of tacos from a place in Dallas, Velvet Taco. They specialize in all kinds of specialty tacos. My wife had a Buffalo chicken taco and a, “Fish and Chip” taco which was phenomenal. I had the middle two, a Brisket taco topped with a cheese blend and delicious sauce. The other was a pulled pork forward taco with the best damn avocado relish I’ve ever had. Wanted a bowl of it by itself. That’s another story. Last food sharing was when we got back to Maryland. I had to do it. It’s a must….a giant crab cake from Romano’s in Glen Burnie. There’s not much more to be said. I was in heaven. Man oh man, do I miss it. All in all, I’ve had some great food recently. End of next month will be a time between both my wife and I’s bdays. The plan is a weekend in Austin and Fredericksburg, the heart of Hill Country for wining, dining, and fun. I can’t wait to to share our food-ventures there. Until then, look forward to all the different stuff shared here! .
  16. Massive congrats @H2O May the future be filled with relaxing, future grandchildren in time, travel, beer, and yelling at kids to get off your lawn!
  17. I honestly can't wait to be home at the end of the week to hear this. It was surreal when I was 13 years old on the last Brood swarm. My older sister and my niece and nephew live in the old house I grew up in north of Carney, MD and they said it was super loud there. Can hear it faintly with everything in the house closed up. Crazy
  18. This was without a doubt my favorite on air met moment of all time. This is probably my 20th time seeing it, and it's still hilarious
  19. Wife and I celebrate our anniversary on Tuesday. I'm going to get a few American Wagyu Filets from the local butcher here and cook them on the cast iron pan with basted butter/garlic/thyme. Thinking roasted asparagus now after seeing @wxtrix pics, as well as loaded baked potatoes. Man, I'm excited to cook!
  20. Try living in an area where 5 out of every 4 people own a truck. Half of them cost more than where they live. Roll coal randomly for no reason. It's ridiculous. I do love me a few trucks, like the Ford Raptor or the Dodge Laramie Hemi cuz they are muscle and really nice looking. But once they do additions like lifts... you lose me. Give me a car any day of the week. There's some insane ones out here. Lots of cool American muscle, and then you got things like the BMW M5 and Mercedes AMG on occasion. Those get me giddy
  21. Anyone gonna try to put out a MCD (Mesoscale Cicada Discussion)?
