  1. That is disgusting lol. I know some people seem to love this weather, but humidity almost always comes with anything 80+ around here. We just don’t do 85 with dewpoints under 60.
  2. I know it wasn’t meant this way it there is very little funny about what is going on out west. It is going to cause major issues.
  3. Ideal climate city for me I think might be flagstaff. Even as the west is baking they are barely in the 90’s. They don’t get humidity and it is a desert type client so highs generally in the 70’s and 80’s and Lows in the 40’s or 50’s. The winters would also be heaven. They average over 100 inches per year. I honestly can’t think of a better mix as anything east of the Mississippi gets too humid for me, the upper plains are too brutally cold, and the pacific coast you lose seasons and snow.
  4. Possibly…but usually straight line winds over 70mph outs side of a massive derecho are pretty rare. We rarely get the type of damage we saw without there being a microburst. Also I believe straight line winds often have a lot to do with storm forward momentum, and these ones were crawling.
  5. What are your thoughts on why there was not a survey sent out? It seemed incredibly odd give the amount of damage especially in north park and near wildwood. You can’t convince me there weren’t 80-100mph winds in those storms.
  6. Doubtful. More like they had put out a warning and wanted to confirm their warning was correct. Will say that If you look up their language on when they do surveys, they do say they survey microbursts to see if their might have been spin ups and help them better understand those events. I know it’s dumb but I could almost guarantee there were greater than 70mph winds in the north hills last Sunday.
  7. Honestly this annoys the hell out of me they came out to survey this when the damage from last week’s storm was much worse and they ignored it. They said they don’t usually survey microburst damage, which I find to be very unlikely.
  8. These truly might be the two nicest days we have until September. By the time the weekend rolls in we will be back to mid 60’s or higher dewpoints, but today through Thursday really are going to be spectacular.
  9. Yep. It is either 75 and comfortable or 85+ with 65-70 degree dewpoints…and really where are we going to get a dry hot airmass to come from…most of the time that we have 85+ das it is due to SE ridge pumping in an airmass directly from the gulf. Also, I’ve been out west, and will take 95 and 40 degree dewpoints over 85 and 70 degree dewpoints any day of the week.
  10. These last two days were brutal. With the humidity it was just absolutely oppressive and the fact it didn’t get below 71 last night is just disgusting. Tomorrow and Wednesday are going to be glorious. Give me that type of weather all summer. I just don’t see what anyone finds fun about 85-90 with 70 degree dewpoints. It is gross.
  11. One, I hope so, but two, it isn’t even technically summer.
  12. They also responded to someone and said they would not be surveying, which is dissapointing. The photo that was shared was impressive, and likely indicated very high gusts. Would have like to have gotten an estimate as I am fairly certain there were 80-100 mph gusts in areas of the north hills.
  13. Any word if a survey was done in the north hills? Wildwood country club had multiple trees snapped in half and uprooted and one spot appeared to be 100mph plus winds. I’m just a bit surprised no survey crew was sent out?
  14. Disagree on the not bad part. This is one of the worst storms I’ve ever seen in the north hills.
  15. Mine came back at 330 AM. I didn't sleep much though because my home was swelteringly hot.
  16. I was at wildwood country club and there was a whole grove of trees snapped in half. Likely some 100 mph gusts. And yeah, rooting on severe storms has always rubbed me the wrong way. Many of the issues that go along with winter storms are avoidable (we’ve all seen how idiots drive in snow and ice here) but I can’t avoid a tree on my house or power being out and ruining what is in my refrigerator.
  17. You said there is no difference between 10 inches of snow and a severe thunderstorm/microburst.
  18. Shocked…all of you were praying for a destructive severe storm and now no one is posting
  19. Well the north hills is a disaster with downed trees including on houses. Wildwood country club has a ton of trees down including one spot where a bunch of pines were snapped in half indicating 100 mph+ winds.
  20. WIsh our weather could stay like today all summer. 80+ starts to get absolutely unbearable once you start adding in humidity.
  21. No, you are right, people die in traffic accidents but often that is avoidable as I've seen how people drive around here in the winter. Everyone thinks their SUV means they can still go 60MPH. I can't think of many reports of deaths or property damage from the storm in December.
  22. Hopefully it is a cooler summer without a ton of 90 degree days. The stretch we had last year was brutal.
