Michael had a pretty horrific surge even though it didn’t really blow up until about a day before landfall.
I agree this isn’t Katrina, but I do think there is a bit too much downplaying going on here.
I am not in any capacity an expert, but in my experience this has the look of a storm that is about to go through some pretty significant intensification.
Lol it’s looking basically on track and looks like it’s about to get its act together.
do we not remember a storm like Michael or Charlie that exploded in the last 24 hours prior to landfall.
Can we make it an automatic ban if someone posts about birds in the eye or starts whining about a “halfacane” looking at the radar?
Also can we ban the dude who comes on preemptively after every major storm and claims it was a cat 1 at best?
No, it is not too early to start evacuation. We are 48 hours or less out from the impact of the storm, and it is wildly irresponsible for a met or pro broadcaster or whatever he is to poo poo this.
It is always better to be safe than sorry.
In all seriousness though I think this is a perfect example as to why forecasting should never go private. When you have JB posting irresponsible garbage like he did but it becomes the front line of forecasting that isn’t good.
The NWS was pretty conservative and in point this whole time.
Of course you’d listen to JB.
Accuweather “mets” are there to drive clicks, not give actual forecasts. If I listened to Henry margusity back in the day I would have had 200 inches of snow a year.
Also JB just in general is an idiot.
I can’t tell you how insane it is that we have a tropical system being funneled up over us this week and the discussion from KPIT doesn’t even mention it.
