  1. Might be the replay. It looks dead to me.
  2. WOW! Means probably a 15 foot surge already!
  3. I shouldn't laugh at this....but I did.
  4. Dude, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP.
  5. I think north would actually be worse. Those 6-10 swaths are all south of the metro, but if you get 6-10 inches on top of us that will cause an absolute load of issues.
  6. Is the roof off the home across the street on the grand isle cam? Tough to tell.
  7. The Humphries can is about to go underwater.
  8. I'll take this to banter if need be, but we have seen that these chasers aren't always the smartest people. There was one dude who literally almost died in Mexico Beach during Michael.
  9. The HPC rainfall forecast map would be problematic for a lot of our area. We don't do all that well with 6 inches of rain around here. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at4+shtml/093339.shtml?rainqpf#contents
  10. You should be absolutely embarrassed, as a pro forecaster, that you said on Friday it was too early to evacuate. That is honestly unacceptable.
  11. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at4+shtml/093339.shtml?rainqpf#contents This would be...problematic to say the least around here.
  12. https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=29.5787&lon=-90.7069&unit=0&lg=english&FcstType=graphical Never seen this on an hourly, but the hourly forecast at houma seems to reflect the eye coming right overhead.
  13. He does it with every storm, decrying the economic impact. The problem is that yeah, 95% of the time the evacuations aren't needed but that other 5% you risk a disaster.
  14. Unfortunately, this is the storm we have dreaded for years...a cat 4 or even possibly cat 5 with a direct hit on a major city.
  15. I don't generally make predictions on things that I am very uneducated on, and also generally trust the mets as well. Almost every Met on here was saying this exact thing was likely to happen, yet a couple people continually poo pooed this, with Eskimo Joe saying evacuations were irresponsible. We've gotten relatively lucky for years. We have not had a "big one" that went over a major population center, and have mostly avoided big hits directly on Houston, NOLA, and the atlantic Florida coast and even the florida gulf coast. This however is looking like the one we have feared for years.
  16. There were some pretty bad takes, especially from a pro forecaster like Eskimo joe, on this. Lake effect king made one post and was spot on. hopefully though this doesn’t turn out as bad as it looks.
  17. “The beast” lol. these are not alive.
  18. Did you just say Katrina didn’t live up to the hype???
  19. See my post right after yours. It’s getting old as hell
  20. Ok sorry I posted it in the main thread, but wmsptwx downplaying this with every single post is starting to annoy the hell out of me. I don’t like weenies that scream “omg cat 5” but I also can’t stand constant downplaying when a lot of things point towards RI.
