  1. Snowflakes finally started mixing in around 2 and now we've had some legit bursts of snow in the past half hour.
  2. I'm already counting down the days til Fall. lol I would be ok with 6 months of Fall-like weather with highs in the 60s/lows in the 40s and then FULL ON snow-filled winter for 6 months. The UP of Michigan is calling me...
  3. 12Z model runs kill me. Snow all across Western and Central NY, especially southern tier, white nothing here in the awful lake plain/mohawk valley. If you hate winter weather and stay in Upstate NY, seriously live here.
  4. Snow in Buffalo and Rochester while it rains in Saharasizzlecuse Death Valley? Shocking...
  5. We are getting ridiculously strong wind gusts here right now ahead of these showers.
  6. Models showing the same jackpots for snow the upcoming couple days and into April over Cazenovia and Southern Onondaga/Northern Cortland counties. That area has seen waaaaaaay more snow than Death Valley just several miles away this winter.
  7. 4th consecutive day of some snow on the ground... keeping the winter appeal (for me).
  8. Syracuse is closing in on you, Rochester...lol... Still a ridiculous deficit.
  9. Yeah. With NW and W flows, there is more orographic involvement as well. WNW doesn't hit many hills as it rides along the coastal plain and down through the Mohawk Valley (other than the Cazenovia area). This part of the county had 5 to 6 inches between the 2 days. 1 to 2 inches Saturday night/Sunday morning, 2.5 inches Sunday night, and 1 to 2 inches yesterday. We ended the day yesterday with a bit more than what we started with. My colleague from Weedsport said they've picked up over a foot over the past 2 days.
  10. Not here. Sun shining brightly. This has been a much better winter for the NW snowbelts than the W and WNW snowbelts. Southern Oswego and Northern Onondaga have been skipped so often.
  11. This is as of yesterday morning, so I imagine Syracuse is now in the 70s for seasonal snowfall. I am at 88.5 inches on the season, thanks to those few WNW events early in the season. I think I can make it to 90 inches. Check out Albany. Their snowfall's been so bad, they just gave up.
  12. True to form, when the WWA ended, our snowfall picked up and hasn't let up much since. Absolutely beautiful snowfall this evening with roads getting covered again.
  13. This has been the general scene most of the afternoon here. It will brighten up for a couple minutes, and then it's back to full winter look.
  14. This afternoon is much more wintry here than I thought it was going to be. There's still a couple inches of snow on the ground, with occasional whiteouts and even paved surfaces briefly catching some new snowfall.
  15. I grew up in PA. I really think it's the high amount of Semi traffic on the highways there. There are SO MANY of them cutting through the state, and they throw water and snow all over the roads and really mess up the visibility. Then you have people going waaaay too fast.
  16. Now that the winds have shifted more WNW, we're getting some good snow showers and whiteouts again. Impressive that there is a solid snowcover of fresh snow in the middle of a late March Afternoon.
  17. Good point. There is so MUCH tractor trailer traffic on the highways in PA as well. They definitely contribute to reduced visibilities. Seriously. Every time I see videos like this, I'm like "GET AWAY FROM YOUR CAR AND THE ROAD!!!" I don't know if the people are in shock and they just can't think straight?
  18. So sorry to read about this bad accident. I wonder why PA seems to have more issues with these bad accidents in squalls. We get our fair share of them here in NY, but these accidents seem less common. Maybe because we expect them more often here and are prepared a bit more?
  19. Checking out BGM reports, it looks like most places in CNY picked up 2 to 4 inches. The Geneva - Seneca Falls area, and Sylvan Beach - Utica areas are definitely snowfall minima places. They got dustings there. I love Geneva, but winters there would be HARD with how often they miss out. (Admittedly, much worse than here, even.)
  20. The Cazenovia area is beautiful. Madison county in general is beautiful. Caz is super expensive to live in though. It was one of my top picks for living, but there aren't many job opportunities there unless you work at the College.
  21. For real. It makes me even more eager to move out of the Valley of Death...but I don't see that happening for a couple more years.
  22. You have definitely been the Jackpot all winter. I wouldn't be surprised if you have almost 2 times more snow for the season over other parts of the Syracuse area. Enjoy!
  23. Yawn. More boring pad statters here in the North Cuse burbs. Wintry look and about 3 inches on the ground, so not a total bust. Colleagues from Weedsport and Southside of Syracuse report 8 inches with schools closed. I had a couple good WNW flow events early in the winter, but it's been NW, NW, and NW ever since the beginning of January.
  24. This NW trajectory has been way too common since January. SW Onondaga county again. More WNW flow is needed for the North Burbs. Still very wintry looking though.
