  1. No matter the wind direction, Sizzlecuse torches. The lake doesn't do a dang thing to cool us down when temps are scorching, but it will warm us up when a cold front moves through. haha
  2. So over it. The entire time I have lived in Syracuse, it's been consecutive much above average 90 degree day summers and consecutive loser winters.
  3. Ha! For real... More snow on Easter than Christmas lately...
  4. If it continues, Buffalo averages will certainly surpass Syracuse. For Syracuse to get those greater amounts, it seems we need the low pressures off the East Coast to sweep moist, cold air over the lake. Those lows and the cold have been lacking. With going into a more neutral winter, it will be interesting to see if the "new normal" continues. It will be somewhat telling if we still can't break 100 inches of snow here.
  5. Yep, I have been reading up on that one during these dog days of summer! It's been a while, but apparently Syracuse CAN get some good 3 to 5 foot lake events!
  6. Average highs in December are also still mild enough that "above average temps" more commonly can lead to rain... Whereas "above average" in January can still bring good chances of snow. Though, the above average Januarys of late haven't done so well in leading to snowy conditions. Below average temps in December can really work with those warmer lake temps to produce the good snows too.
  7. In fact, I got a picture of @Syrmax sneaking by the thermometer at SYR Hancock airport....
  8. Yeah, I see that -1 at Rochester. No way there is such a difference between Rochester and Syracuse under the same air mass. Brentrich must run ROC's thermometer and Syrmax runs SYR's. True battle of the weenies.
  9. I swear Hancock has the thermometer in an inaccurate location. In June, I thought, "Finally, Syracuse isn't reporting temps several degrees above everyone else and other stations." They were on par with others in reference to below average. Now we are back to the several degrees above. On wunderground, the sites surrounding the airport are often several degrees lower.
  10. Syracuse is already at the forecasted high of 87. The temp is more in line with the source of heat currently found in the Hudson Valley as opposed to all the other locations in Western and Central NY, which are in the 70s and low 80s. Perhaps crack 90 once again before the slooow moving "front" gets here.
  11. Wind-whipped tropical-like thunderstorm moving through right now. Sweet lightning!
  12. Apparently some severe storms heading directly my way. I was surprised to hear thunder wake me up, as I wasn't expecting storms. Stupid Saharacuse is still reporting 84 degrees at 2:30 in the morning. Such a ridiculous place. The south winds off the hills to the south combined with the UHI create this oven microclimate. Warmest report in the east and currently warmer here than New Orleans, Houston, Tampa, Orlando, and Miami!
  13. I'm so glad I don't live in the Urban Heat Island of Hellacious Sizzlecuse...but unfortunately their report represents the area temp. Happy to be up near Phoenix in the current temps map below. Look at that UHI.
  14. LOL. I have been so freakin busy. I mean, I haven't had time to come on here and complain about the sizzle for...what like, 2 months? I have friends visiting from out of town starting tomorrow, so I don't know when I'll go on discord. I WANT to.. I just know I'm going to need at least a day to catch up on everything. Haha. I appreciate being missed.
  15. Here I am...minding my own business...not complaining or saying anything about the awful heat...but since you brought it up.... .... stupid Saharacuse does not have much room for it to get hotter. Consecutive summers of 20 something days hitting 90 or above.... snowpack having lots of trouble surviving the ridiculous winter warm spells... The average summer temps may max at 81-82 degrees, but they sure do seem to sit at 88 to 90 degrees here day after day. Temps err on the warm side of average by 5 to 10 degrees so very often. It's disgusting. You asked for it.......................
  16. Why are you picking fights with people in here? We have a good crew of individuals in our subforum...and you're getting a much kinder response from them than you would in other subforums. Knock the crap off and learn to read the room.
  17. Hmmm, check the facts there for your city, bro. https://www.whec.com/rochester-ny-weather/first-alert-weather-in-depth-90-degree-days/6514995/
  18. Hey, all! Just stopping in. It's been quite some time. I'm not dead. Two more days until we send the kids home for the summer. Two more days. I love teaching, but it is a drain on the body. Very misunderstood and unfairly judged profession. Anyways...the prospect of an enhanced risk of severe storms tomorrow in CNY motivated me to check in.
  19. Give me this weekend's weather EVERY SINGLE DAY of the summer. Beautiful.
  20. Winter...one week of Spring... and now Summer for the next 5.5 months. Seems about normal anymore...
