Still North but a sizable shift south from previous runs. I’m liking the trends of short range models coming more towards the globals.
Yep, just like our last threat. Nam shifted south at the last minute. This is a clear bias in the medium range to over amp systems.

Hate to be a stickler, but I’d bargain “most” of us live within 30 miles of the triangle, and this looks like hell
We do not live 30 miles from the triangle.....you are in the wrong thread.

What happened to @Blue_Ridge_Escarpment
I feel like we are missing a lot of the old school mountain posters. Haven't seen @SnoJoe in a long while
Blue_Ridge_ Escarpment is on the other board.... Don't know about SnoJoe, haven't seen him in forever.

Welcome to the new normal, a January east coast thunderstorm threat.
That's a heavy rainfall risk map..... not a severe thunderstorm map.

WWBB to Eastern then here, so 20+ years
EDIT: Eastern came from WWBB and AMWX from Eastern. It's been a crazy ride and I can't believe that we've survived all these years. I've made so many friends here that have become family and have had some amazing memories
I also came from the old Eastern forum. We had some good times back then......

You should be happy that we are building a deep snowpack to our north. You know we have to get their snow in place first. That way we can have a winter storm here. At least, that's what I heard.... lol

Long range is filled with plenty of cold rain opportunities. Cold air is non existent outside of the mountains. Lots of energy but a lack of artic air. No fantasy storms, as we approach the new year. Models show the mountains have the best chance to score going into mid January.
The mountains always have the best chance of scoring. Just relax and don't get caught up in the model run to run changes.

First, good luck to everyone this winter. I’ve been starting to track winter weather here in the Netherlands.
Decided to check in on what was going on in the SE with the pattern change. Next week and beyond looks interesting for sure. The 12z Euro map was a bit crazy. If this ULL can drop a little further south some folks outside of the mountains in NC/SC could get in on the action. Something to keep an eye on.
Burger!!,
Man, we sure have missed you over here. Welcome back. When are you coming back to the states?

Anyone from the Atlanta area? Moving down from LI NY next week. I see colder temps at night down there, then up here. I guess, no warm water to keep the nights a bit warmer?
Well, if you are a winter weather fan, may God have mercy on your soul...... just saying.

I will say that time-period of Dec 28-Jan 3 holds some interesting potential for the WNC crew.
Yes, I do agree. The models have been hinting at something during that timeframe for a few runs now.

I called the 900 number, me and this girl talked about a banana high.
Now that's funny, I almost spit out my coffee when I read it. My wife said, what's so funny? and what is a banana high?

This latest run (06z) takes it all away. I don't think we will know for sure what will happen until we get closer. I am pulling for you guys. Let those ski resorts build their bases.

This is not a torch. I'll take phase 7 for now. You do realize that we will be going into phase 8 during peak climo.

Down to 18 with a chance to get another degree out of it. NWS nailed the forecast low here. Didn't think it would be that cold, but it is.

I noticed most of us in this thread joined in 2010. Is that when Eastern Weather changed to American Weather?
Yes a lot of us were on Eastern and came here when it shut down

Heavy sleet/snow mix in Boone per webcams. starting to accumulate on elevated surfaces.

You guys are too funny. You know it will snow in March and then it will be gone in less than a day. Or probably just some "white rain" that doesn't accumulate.
