  1. The strongest chess engine in the world is Alpha Zero. The "program" was never "taught" how to play chess and understand chess. It learned how to play incredibly strong chess by playing millions of games against itself. All AI machine based learning
  2. I do not think you are overreacting at all. The so-called upgrades to the models haven't worked all that well. Perhaps it is time to re-engineer" the models back to their previous state(s). I've known a few people who wrote software. All said doing upgrades is difficult. If given the choice all would have elected to just write new software rather than to attempt to upgrade existing software.
  3. Agree. There is far too much reliance on the models as opposed to pattern recognition.
  4. We know that to be true. That is not correct. Global warming has been a concern for decades, but many people chose to ignore it. The term “global warming” appears for the first time - HISTORY
  5. The issue is the use of 30 year norms rather than the entire database. Makes no sense to not use the entire database for comparison(s)
  6. Something tells me chaim bloom isn't in charge of that..
  7. Climate change leads to pattern change and different outcomes.
  8. Don't worry JB will have the Little Ice Age following the nationwide warmth...keep the faith..
  9. no...the record is held by someone in the MLB thread responding to my posts about the north rays...
  10. Another thing to consider is that back then there were far more snowfall totals reported after the snow has ended. Now it is more of a running total during a storm with updates every 2-3 hours. That leads to more accurate snow totals than back then.
  11. Speaking of that long term care insurance, I heard the premiums have been skyrocketing
  12. You were very fortunate to have that experience. It had to be a great discussion!!
  13. That perfectly sums up a December to Remember...it was never on the tracks
  14. About the same in Methuen. The snow changed back to rain about an hour or so ago.
  15. At one time I knew a lot of people who skied, now I do not know anyone that goes skiing. Back in the day there was a small ski area in North Andover Ma called Boston Ski Hill. It was open from the late 40's and it closed after the 92-93 ski season. That place wouldn't survive now.
