  1. I have freezing fog this morning, 28.8/27.5 currently, visibility under 0.2 mile. Deck was quite slick when I walked out!
  2. Well that didn't last long. After peaking at 55.4 at 3:17 pm down to 40.0 currently..... Edit, now 39.4 2 minutes later.
  3. Something happened a bit ago that hadn't since the 9th of this month, thermometer went over 50! Currently 55.3 degrees at 3 pm.
  4. Yep, the chemicals reacting to the warmer air on the colder road, basically sweating....
  5. This has happened in the past but a legit question. This morning when I got off work it was foggy/hazy looking. As I drove home I noticed....SNOW!! Yes, it was snowing from an almost clear sky. Now I have a pretty good idea what it was living here for over 50 years. Papermill snow. It is/was only 2nd time I've seen it at my current location, but when I lived closer to town (and mill) when growing up it would happen 3 or 4 times a year when it got cold enough. I reported nothing in my CoCoRaHS report and emailed them asking what I should do. But, what would YOU do? It IS falling from the sky, it does cover the ground and fill the gauge.... BTW, when I looked at the 'night satellite' images between 6 and 8 this morning there was a nice 'streamer' going thru the county and right over the house.
  6. Yep, I love cold, but not wind. I'll take a calm -25 low -5 high day over a blustery +10 low 28 high day anytime.
  7. Currently 10.8/5.0 here with a 5 mph breeze making it feel like 3. Least that is above zero lol. Low of -1 NOT a record but does slide into 3rd place behind 1983's -9 degrees and 1989's -6 degrees. High was 16.4 degrees, which goes into 2nd place, behind 1983's 10 degrees, but ahead of 1989's 22 degrees. Merry Christmas all!
  8. I just tossed another log or two on the fire, 71 up, 79 downstairs.
  9. Well, well, well! What a nice surprise... some light flurries blowing out there making for a more joyful night. It won't amount to much, but just seeing the flakes flying in the air on Christmas Eve is wonderful. Currently 15.5 degrees with still a 10-20 mph breeze. Merry Christmas everyone!
  10. Guess it's going be another penny and dime year.... 12/16 0.2 12/22 0.1 12/24 0.1 12/28 0.1 Total 0.5
  11. BTW that places it in 3rd spot for coldest for the date, sliding in front of 2000's 1 degree but behind 1983's -3 and 1989's -8 readings.
  12. Currently -1.0/-11.5 with clouds and an occasional flurry whipping by. Wind WSW at 9 for a wind chill of -16 degrees. Low was -2.4 degrees back at 4:45 am, temp rose a bit when clouds filled back in from the west. Highest wind here was 40 mph.
  13. At 11:30 pm -1.3/-13.4 winds W at 16 gusting to 28. WC ranging from -21 to -26 I'm a bit concerned that the DP continues to fall.... Edit- 1st time below zero since 1/08/2018
  14. Currently 2.8/-10.7 here, chilly! Edit, winds 13 gusting to 23 still, giving a WC of -14 to -20
  15. X's 2?? lol 12/16 0.2 12/22 0.1 Total 0.3
  16. Right at 32.0 here after a bit of snow/sleet to cover the ground then freezing rain and sleet to beat it down. Still a few pingers mixed in with the 95% rain/freezing rain here and 32.0/31.4 at 9:20. Icy!
  17. Currently 31.3/23.2 here, so SHOULD meet about 29 degrees here once things get going.
  18. More like a 5 degree drop, but definitely works. I've learned over the years that THE MINIMUM you should go with when meeting temp to DP is 3 DP's up for each degree down in temp. That has saved a lot of heartache over the years.
  19. Flurries here off and on since about midnight. Just covering decks and cars, etc. 31.4/20.7
  20. Not Lifebouy! That stuff makes you go blind! Sorry about the incident Mappy. Her saying that instantly took me to that most favorite of all Christmas movies, A Christmas Story. Glad it wasn't any worse than it was.
  21. On the board...sorta, but sleet counts, right? 12/16 0.2
  22. I'd just run with it and pull the 'ol slant stick out...
