  1. It's still there. Prepare 2 b buried
  2. -15° wind chills in Dallas on Sunday night. Broken water pipes galore.
  3. I just got off of the phone with someone in Irving, Texas. I could hear the almost panic in her voice while discussing their forecast. People are freaking out. A lot of snow and zr in their forecast, along with below zero wind chills. The worst thing for them is that it's not going to get above freezing for almost a week. Expect lots of headlines from their area.
  4. Dude, if the snow is going to follow you around like that, you need to move to Indiana.
  5. Take it for what it's worth, but the CFSv2 is showing a signal for above normal precip in March. If that comes to fruition and we have a flip to above normal temps and an accompanying snow pack release, it could get ugly. Granted, it is also consistently showing near normal temps, but it would only take three or four days of above normal temps.
  6. Residents of Nuevo Laredo will be saying, "Se me están congelando las bolas aquí abajo."
  7. I did that for our friend McHenrySnow
  8. This. It gets old seeing people post that getting the vaccination if you're under (insert age here) isn't necessary. I get tired of saying if you are a younger asymptomatic carrier and you infect my 80 year-old-grandmother who dies as a result, that it's the equivalent of involuntary manslaughter. Before anyone gets up in arms because I'm spewing hyperbole, If you cause a death due to negligence (a carnival ride malfunction due to lack of inspections, texting while driving, etc.), you are guilty. In other words, if you don't do it for yourself, do it for others. It's just sad that so many people have no compassion for others.
  9. That's the problem with CoCoRaHS observations. I've been doing it since 2006, and it's a great way to keep IMBY records. However, when I take a 7AM reading, it records it for that day. The result is that if 2" of snow (or rain) falls on the last day of the month, it is actually recorded at on the first day of the next month. But at least we don't count it twice. lol Anyway, to keep my personal records accurate, I have to make notes concerning such events, because I'm not getting up in the middle of the night to check my gauges.
  10. I know this isn't the storm that was previously modeled, and it's just a turd duster for the ORD area, but I'm looking forward to another 1 - 2" refresher today. We've had at least a 5 1/2" snowpack for 11 days. Every time it compresses/sublimates, we get a 1/2" - 2" refresher. Now, to save winter from being completely trash in this area, I'm waiting to hear the bark of a St. Bernard.
  11. Is this the update of the old EE rule? The AA rule. When it's in effect, it's a lock.
  12. I agree, especially since the models are only spitting out an inch or two for IND.
  13. ...which equals 1.57 cents American. For the other 43 cents, I would also add that perhaps the evergreen is acting as insulation, so that the ground temps aren't as cold as the surrounding ground to begin with, coupled with the melting snow from the limbs = bare ground.
  14. There are quite a few I 70 and south posters. I guess if they aren't interested in their 2-4 incher, they aren't going to discuss it here.
  15. Calendar spring does not equate to what you consider real spring in Central Indiana. Brutal cold can happen here through mid-March, although after the first week in March, Arctic intrusions usually don't have as much staying power. If you're from a more southern climate, it will be early to mid-April before what you think of as "spring" happens at IND.
  16. That's an inside comment that most here won't understand. Woke up to quarters gently falling from the sky.
  17. I made burgers on the grill last Sunday. I wasn't gonna let an 8" snow stop me.
  18. NWS predicted less than an inch for us today/tonight. Whoops. WAA hasn't made this this far north. All snow north of I 70 in Indiana. Already put an inch down in an hour and still pouring.
