  1. They are the same. But they are much more widely used. It’s been a long time since you had to state you’d be out of town...
  2. The thing about mail ballots-they’ve been around forever. My first time voting for potus was 1968 by mail in absentee. In those days you (per memory) had to tell why you can’t show up in person but no one checked. Early voting is also a big boon to participation. My wife and I voted by mail but dropped if off at town hall since we as usual procrastinated and cut the mail window too close. Never miss voting even for only local elections. The rules of how to fill out and where to put your ballot by mail in MA requires you to carefully pay attention!
  3. So great to have the data an hour early!
  4. It was blasting over the loudspeakers while a few thousand of us were running the Long Beach marathon 32 years ago-memory burned in!
  5. Oaks are native. Norway maples aren’t-they are crowding out the oaks and screwing with our eco system ultimately. This is not a new problem but imho they should have left well enough be long ago when they got here.
  6. Looks great for upslope. The little coastal in the gulf of Maine should give you a few inches on top of that. Hope everyone in Randolph voted early!
  7. I think going back and forth to ORD has crowded flights. Then dealing with the hassle of luggage, rental cars, etc against the backdrop of not having the time pressure vs when I was working full time+ it’s a no brainer to us. It was always an issue of all the miles on the leased car but mine is 2 years in with 10,000 miles total so even that is a non issue.
  8. Epo and suggestion of east based NAO.
  9. The second half of November is looking better and better.
  10. Along the same lines, while in the air travel is probably not as risky as once thought, I’m avoiding it. We have to go to Chicago again this coming weekend. We’re driving, ORD is in the center of surging and interacting with everyone you need to from ground personnel, TSA, other passengers, baggage, rental cars seems like more risk than we have to take. The part time work I do is remote and can be done form anywhere and my wife’s job has dried up until spring. Driving seems a better bet. Besides, if we stay long enough maybe we’ll catch some LES on the way back.
  11. Meanwhile while I didn’t watch the dodger celebration on the field, I’m told that Justin Turner, removed from the game after testing positive was slobbering all over his teammates unmasked in the post game celebration. If that actually happened it’s a huge what the blue fuk!
  12. Along the same lines....I made the entry for today and it shows up under my entries section but not on the list wish everyone else’s. Thanks Kevin!
  13. Great information-thanks Don! I hope you and your family are well.
  14. James, I doubt we have a 2011-12 repeat. This winter should be better.
  15. Damn....I’m at 28 with decent snow cover. Gotta be careful walking later....
  16. I spent about an hour shoveling. Sore muscles but ticker appears just fine.
  17. Autumn has been very different in 2020 vs 2011.
  18. Looks like BOS final is 4.3. Basically 4x the previous monthly record for October.
  19. 5.1 is the final. Really amazing system. Let’s go belly to belly! Any word on BOS final?
  20. Gotta go out and measure and consider whether I need to shovel or wait for the torch later in the week. Most of the snow since about 10AM has not been particularly wet but lots of sagging of limbs. May go out and bop some snow off of the smaller more vulnerable ones. Amazing storm! Next window is 11/15-30.
  21. And we rip! I’m not going to be surprised if I end up with 5+. Props to Kevin-he never wavered.
