  1. Looking like some 10 degrees above normal for the first few weeks of January.
  2. It was the coldest Christmas Eve since 1872.
  3. Coldest Christmas Eve in NYC since 1874
  4. I had a 49 degrees swing from 57.4 to 8.5. Low this morning was 7. Currently 14.5.
  5. Buffalo webcam, can't see across the street. https://buffalowebcam.com/live-webcams/buffalo-ny-elmwood-ave-mr-pizza
  6. When I listen to some of the news reports about the flooding and weather and here some of the misinformation, it makes me wonder how much is misinformation being reported on things I don't know about.
  7. Peak gust here last night, 43 mph. Rain amount .45 inch.
  8. Temperature has risen quite a bit here over the past few hours, up to 53 degrees. I was 46 degrees at 10pm. Wind has actually picked up in the past 1/2 hour.
  9. So far not much wind. Highest gust a few hours ago at 27mph. Recently only gusting to around 20
  10. The thing is, at least along the coast. We've had a nice stretch of above normal snowfall Winters probably because of global warming. I don't know what the future will bring but if we go into a string of below normal Winters, it wouldn't surprise me either because of global warming or just the law of averages.
  11. Global warming may or may not suck, but one thing for sure, if you like snow this pattern sucks for us.
  12. Yes quite a bit colder in some locations. Currently -18 at the south pole. Of course it is almost summer down there.
  13. The temperature in Chicago will drop to below zero this evening and is not expected to go above zero until some time on Saturday when it will get to the single digits.
  14. West Yellowstone Montana currently -40 degrees
  15. Currently -29 degrees in Great Falls Montana, wind chill -52.
  16. Denver went from 47 to 7 in one hour, today.
  17. I remember that Christmas, temperatures in the single digits to around 10 for highs.
  18. The coldest air to our south and west has been the theme for months, indicating to me there really has been no pattern change at least in regards to cold air and the east coast.
  19. From what I understand this air mass entering the U.S. is a dense air mass from Siberia. A heavy air mass like this may be hard to displace. So I am wondering if the models are overdoing the quick switch to way above normal temperatures. Not saying it won't get mild but not as fast as they indicate.
  20. As has been for a while now, the coldest of the cold continues to be to our South and West.
  21. Yes but one is higher than the other. I have 2 because of a big pine that blocks the main anemometer from getting a SW wind. The other one takes care of that.
  22. I've got 2 anemometers above the roof. I never really admit to this.
  23. Albany snowfall records since the 1880s. I believe their average since then is about 60-65 inches https://www.weather.gov/media/aly/Climate/ALY_Seasonal_Snowfall_Totals.pdf
