  1. Commanders are rolling and, per a recent article, they're becoming a FA destination. I also think the topic of the name change with the fan base is silly...the name Commanders is fine and the jerseys are kinda nice tbh. Only issue is that it's difficult to shorten the name, but the GS Warriors found a way with "Dubs".
  2. I’m currently drinking a beer from heavy seas called winter storm. It’s gonna snow this winter and there’s nothing we can do about it.
  3. It’s a remarkable pattern. We’ve basically become a semi-arid steppe climate.
  4. This is the reset that will lead to our December snowstorm.
  5. I was tempted to get binoculars for this week, but thinking it might be too far away now. That said, I read there’s another comet that might be visible in a week, but they’re not sure if it will survive the orbit around the sun. Interesting stuff, regardless.
  6. Yea, I think it was just surprising how they came out of the woodwork. The court I go to does have bugs on occasion, but nothing like yesterday. I literally received like 5-6 new bites in about 30 mins…and probably more. I could see them on me. Is it gonna snow soon?? lol.
  7. There was a legit flea/mosquito swarm yesterday at one of the courts I play at. Was actually in the middle of a training session (one of the parents nearby wanted me to get their kid ready for rec league) and we had to end it early. Got bit several times (I'm a mosquito magnet, so that part wasn't surprising), but definitely did not expect that in late October and with it being so dry lately. It did look like they recently mowed the park, so maybe that had something to do with it.
  8. It’s a remarkable, long-term pattern we’re in. We just aren’t getting any consistent southern stream interaction. I can’t imagine that changing much in a La Niña, but who knows.
  9. As much as I kvetch about colder weather this early in the season, I rarely turn the heat on and I kinda like shooting hoops in a hoodie...adds to the vibe.
  10. It was definitely dew-y this morning. I'm ready for a return to milder weather. My mom is on the west coast and said they're getting a cooldown which usually means we're getting a warmup.
  11. My coworker got a great image of the comet using night mode on her iphone. Need to find out how to replicate that on my se 2022. I think the moon was also too bright when I went out.
  12. Can’t see the comet tonight. I see Arcturus, though. Couldn’t see the northern lights either lol.
  13. That 4x4 can really plow through snow, especially with the right tires.
  14. One option is for me to get another jeep. I bought my last one in Nov '13 which was followed by a string of goat-level winters.
  15. ...with that said, looks like a potentially legendary stretch of weather incoming by Friday.
  16. Was gonna say how I'm surprised we're getting cooler weather and sunshine...and then I looked at the satellite loop.
  17. You ain’t lying. I’d like to see a solid winter. We’re due, but we sure aren’t in a great pattern for storms rn. The monthly enso ppt shows nina kicking in now basically through winter.
  18. Heck of a cloud deck here…my least favorite part of being next to the Catoctin’s. Looks like further east is in the downsloping sunshine.
  19. Commanders are in a good spot, but the Daniels is a different style of runner/scrambler than Lamar. The former being a north/south runner, the latter being a shifty, QB/RB combo who can break tackles. I'd like to see the WC's add another receiver into the mix and certainly another playmaker in the secondary. Overall, that was a good measuring stick loss to a SB contender.
  20. Yea, it seems like we've had basically no southern stream for a couple years now. We're just getting scraps from systems to the north and the south.
  21. The GL to the Appalachians cloud factory has started to ramp up again. I like this weather a lot more when it’s sunny, but satellite imagery isn’t very inspiring atm. Extended forecast does look nice, though.
  22. Absolutely loving this stretch of weather, though talk about a wavy pattern. 2 weeks of stratus decks and vitamin-loaded humidity followed by dry, nw breeze and sunshine. I've been ramping up my biking recently (kinda slacked on that over the summer while I was taking a class and playing more hoops) and noticed how quickly the trails have started to dry up again (at least Little Bennett). At some point, we'll probably need a real gully washer or two, though for now I'm embracing the current wave.
