  1. Yea, it's subjective. Every now and then I try to drink scotch, but I just can't get past the smoke/peat. Maybe one day. Oysters...yea, I don't think I'm gonna grow into them at this point lol.
  2. I literally gag when trying to eat oysters. Eating them is a miserable experience. I did somehow manage an oyster shot at Mama's on the Half Shell in Canton, though.
  3. Oysters are awful (the seafood version of scotch). Mussels are where it's at.
  4. Light snow here and looks pretty wintry on top of Gambrill State Park (which I just confirmed is exactly the part of the Catoctin's I see when looking west).
  5. This is usually when the last minute north ticks start. We have 48 hrs to make up ground.
  6. He responded to you in banter.
  7. I work with a former operational met in the aviation industry and his thoughts (right before me seeing the pbp here) are that we're dealing with a southern/colder euro vs northern/warmer gfs, but seems to lean towards a colder (given the time of year), more north solution (given that it's a west to east system, so it could lift further north than depicted). He reiterated it'll come down to the direction of the 850mb temp advection. If we were in the office, I'd try to get more details lol. And just looked at the latest GFS. I sign.
  8. I see we had the ol' "fake rug pull from Euro" again. It'll nudge back north by 0z and GFS will nudge south. I've seen too many of these shows by now. How do you like that for sound science?
  9. Yea, that and EH Taylor are up there for me. I’ve only tried the single barrel, but that gold label sounds legit. Visiting Buffalo trace distillery is on my bucket list…they seem to know what they’re doing lol.
  10. I can walk to rt 15, but still west of it. I hope that counts. This vort keeps looking better. It was getting sheared out a few days ago. The lack of a strong coastal low will keep it capped as a mecs, but still looks like a classic west to east, i70 storm.
  11. By purchasing Wintry Mix beer from Beer Farm, I’ve decided to accept a winter storm is incoming. It’s actually palatable. Also picked up Blanton’s the other day. I don’t particularly enjoying paying a lot for bourbon, but I must say…it’s still a very good pour.
  12. Yea, this isn't a pedestrian vort entering the west coast... https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/?model=gfs&region=wus&pkg=z500_vort&runtime=2025010218&fh=30
  13. Wouldn't be surprised. That's about when the system enters the west coast. Though maybe they wait until Saturday morning for tomorrow's advisories to expire.
  14. I was just kidding about my winter snowfall forecast.
  15. Have seen a few flakes falling throughout the day. Also joined an indoor gym for the winter, so you know it’s getting serious.
  16. We’re due for a blizzard between 1/6 and 1/22.
  17. Yea, that looked like a Miller A at the end. All we do now is snow.
  18. Roanoke looks pretty nice to drive through and there seems to be some good trails around that area. You also might not be too far from Harrisonburg, VA, which is supposed to have some legitimate mountain biking. Snow is cool, but quality of life is more important.
  19. 540 line is south of us on both the gfs/cmc...it's about as good of a run as we could expect at this range.
  20. Daytime snow, too. Those are so much better.
  21. Majestic vort pass on the gfs.
  22. The wind has been really cranking lately after a little break from earlier.
  23. Actually a closed h5 low this time once it gets into the Plains, though could be noise. Regardless, I’m ok with this run.
  24. Ahh, decision trees. That’s interesting, but makes sense due to the nominal output. I vote to prune them at majority snow…for the sake of digital snow.
