  1. I know it's less common in the summer, but we need a storm coming straight from the GOM. Those things have been lacking for a couple years now. Heck, we've hardly had any tropical remnants either.
  2. Pretty wimpy rainfall so far in Columbia. This is the type of precip you get when there's a drought...usually because the flow upstairs just ain't cuttin' it.
  3. Seeing precip flowing off the Atlantic in July isn’t the most common occurrence.
  4. The clouds look like war of the worlds incoming, but radar says otherwise. Looks like a northern scooter. We just can’t seem to get vorts to go south enough, often enough.
  5. The clouds over the Catoctin’s look like they want to party. I might be on the southern edge, though.
  6. I want my theory of “wind and clouds prior to storm chances to not be a good thing” to be wrong. We def do need the rain.
  7. I never trust wind before storms. We’re better at partly sunny and stagnant before storms.
  8. Storms seem to go way too far north now. Just look at our lack of clippers…could be a relationship between the two. How many systems have gone south of our latitude the last two years? I know it’s convenient to not talk about cc, but I think we’re seeing the impacts in real-time…at least on a short-term scale.
  9. Today is high on the Scoville unit scale. Looks like I might get clipped by a cell if it holds, otherwise looks like mostly isolated, popup stuff around the area (better than nothing). Frederick (specifically, mby) has done pretty well this year with precip. There's obviously brown patches now, but last year seemed worse up to this point.
  10. Ok, maybe it’s a little hot out.
  11. Beautiful out today. Much better than the stratus decks we were dealing with all spring.
  12. Here's the thing... if you asked me would I rather have 100 degrees with a sun angle of 73 degrees and ~15 hrs of daylight versus an altitude of 27 degrees and about 10 hrs of daylight, I'm choosing "now"... ...unless it's snowing.
  13. I’ve been absolutely destroying iced tea the last few days
  14. Just shot hoops…and I must say, it would be really cool to have the Atlantic Ocean next to me rn.
  15. Today’s heat is hitting different. Feels like the hottest day of the year so far.
  16. Finally made it to baker for the 4th. Quite a turnout. I don’t think it rained at all here today. Maybe some scraps earlier. In other news, fireworks are still poppin off…like loud at times lol.
  17. This is basically a standard, mid-Atlantic summer pattern. Humid with a chance of afternoon and evening t-storms into next week with the except of a day or two of drier weather. Some will get rain, some won’t. There’s no widespread storm to track. Personally, this is one of my favorite types of weather patterns (though I do agree…it’s a little bit of a spicy tortilla out there).
  18. I went there once with my brother in law...we both rode our jeeps. Definitely a nice spot, though it's a trek getting there. Gulf stream basically bypasses OC and gets close to the OBX. Water temps are significantly warmer in VA beach and points south for that reason.
  19. I can attest that OC was chilly last weekend. Swimmable...but required sunshine and internal motivation.
  20. Glad to see it. The beautiful deserts of the southwest are much better at dry than we are whereas we're professionals at lush summers when the pattern is in our favor.
  21. Idk how much rain just fell, but it came down in sheets at its peak. That cell was loaded.
  22. Breezy torrents here. I wasn't completely thrilled about it because I was about to take a break from studying (grad class), got ready to go out, looked at the radar, and then decided to eat instead lol.
  23. 2024 Frederick doesn't waste humidity. Another cell moving through atm.
  24. Drove back from oc last night and caught that last line on 70. Few minutes of torrents. Saw lightning in the distance for a large chunk of my drive back. I’m assuming mby had a decent precip day.
  25. Rain has commenced in Frederick.
