Amazing to think we can go from this to backdoor drizzly gunk on Thu and Fri. GFS is back to strong easterly wind misery those two days.

Yep, this is high end stuff even though the actual highs of 95+ haven't happened for many yet. When you have widespread 105-110 HI, that's dangerous to be out in for very long.

Still 93 here. About as atrocious heat conditions as it gets.

No downslope component like there might be for tomorrow. I’m a little surprised we didn’t cool down more since water temp at Jones Beach is only 65.

Still some 95s on the personal stations in central Nassau behind the seabreeze. I’m at 93 so barely budging IMBY.

Seabreeze is about here. Looks like my high will be 93 today. Doesn’t look like the seabreeze is making it much cooler. Temps still around 90 behind it. It’s only much cooler on the barrier islands.

Looks to be making headway on radar, almost to the Southern State.

Can see the seabreeze on radar, looks about to Merrick Rd. Long Beach temps look to be around 82. Wonder if they hit 90 first? Here it’s 92, hideous outside.

A little surprised the heat warning wasn’t extended east to Nassau and W Suffolk. It’ll be an oven on the N Shore the next few days and everywhere if the seabreeze stays away.

I have to think there will be daily seabreezes with such a contrast with the mid 60s water. The hot spot might actually be where the compressional heating is worst which could be around the Southern State Parkway area or just north. Since NW is a downslope direction it’ll definitely heat up for everyone though.

Marine layer plus the air is further stabilized from the storm earlier.

Light rain and some thunder now. Some gustier wind from the outflow boundary a few minutes ago. Lots of twigs and smaller branches down from the storm before but thankfully nothing bigger.

Velocities looked pretty intense going through the south shore barrier islands.

Some scattered outages along the N Shore affecting a few thousand customers so far.

Wow, pretty impressive. Torrential rain and strong gusts. Wouldn't surprise me if some trees are down.

South Jersey Alley will produce as always. Here it's getting dark to the west. We'll see if it clips me or goes just to my north.

I could see around the Southern State really roasting with the compressional heating in the afternoon. I have to think some kind of seabreeze develops with waters still in the mid 60s. I don’t think that cool water gets denied all day.

Yep, models seem to be building up a high pressure to our north which means backdoor comes through by Wed. And of course game over for real heat with ENE winds.

Can see the tops for the storm over the city to my west. Our chance here is with any squall line heading east later.
