  1. Flash flood warnings out now for counties in east central IN this afternoon already. Depending on training and where that front encounters Gordon's moisture this could be really significant in central parts of the Midwest.
  2. Flood advisories already posted for areas just north and west of me from today's scattered rains. Flood watch out for central IL, IN and MO. I can only imagine what will happen when Gordon's moisture hits the front, wherever that may end up being in a couple days.
  3. Flash flood watches out from western MI west through northern IL and IA to eastern Nebraska. Storms starting to form that east/west training line.
  4. Glad you had one of the best t storms of the year today, Cyclone. They have been few and far between here in my neck of the woods in Central Indiana this year.
  5. Good gust front/outflow on NWS Quad City composite loop radar near PIA area.
  6. Look out Cyclone. Tor warning just across the river from you in IA moving ne. Radar confirmed near Grand Mound
  7. That eastern IA line does look formidable. Also concerned about discrete cells popping up ahead of it as shear and helicity move eastward into Illinois. Derecho composite up to 8 and meso discussion out for strong winds for the next few hours from that line,. Warning update for 80 mph gusts with that line near Iowa City eastward now.
  8. Tornado warning for rotation now in south central WI where wind shear is 40/45.
  9. TV media showed busted out windshields from that storm. Glad it didn't produce that hail when it was over my house before moving southeast.
  10. Although not severe I have had torrential rain the past 15 minutes here after occasional elevated showers and t storms this morning. Illinois sure looks interesting for this evening.
  11. We actually had a nice, noisy garden variety t storm about 3 p.m. this afternoon. I had forgotten what they looked like. We'll see if enough instability mounts behind the warm front for anything else to fire later this evening.
  12. Chinook, I had the pleasure of spending the past week at Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. First time in Colorado since 1989. Did not go through Fort Collins though. Had great weather to drive Trail Ridge Road to lookouts with clear blue skies. Glad I wasn't in Colorado Springs for that massive hailstorm though.
  13. Many of these decisions were made yesterday based on the forecast out of an interest in caution, but uncertainties remained regarding where the convection would actually fire geographically. Better safe than sorry. Remember the state fair stage collapse?
  14. Louisville metro could be affected with severe/tor possibilities shortly with tor warned cell by Corydon.
  15. Severe warning for Brown County and Seymour IN area now. Cells are beginning to pop. Would imagine if this is going to happen it will get started shortly.
  16. I've read that this low pressure is becoming vertically stacked. In the past such lows have usually not been too prolific of a svr wx maker. So we shall see what happens today and if this holds true or not. 83/71 here now and partly sunny.
  17. This brings to memory another tragedy in Kansas from years ago. I knew someone who died in this incident from a relatively weak tornado. The 1978 Whippoorwill tornado also known as the Whippoorwill Disaster was a tornado that struck on June 17, 1978. The tornado, which was on the ground for 8 miles (13 km), struck a tourist boat called the Whippoorwill, causing it to capsize and drowning sixteen out of the 58 passengers and crew. 1978 Whippoorwill tornado - Wikipedia
  18. And my cousin and I have taken this Ride the Duck amphibious ride at Branson a couple years ago and have dined on the Showboat Belle, Absolutely chilling video.
  19. KY3 Springfield confirming it was one of the amphibious duck boat tours with staging area near the Showboat Branson Belle.
  20. Radar from Springfield shows squall line speeding southeast, but I don't know if the county was previously warned. Wondering if it was duck boats or the showboat?
  21. Very concerning. Please keep us advised.
  22. Those se IA tornadic cells along that instability gradient have some good parameters to work with per SPC meso page.
  23. Jackson MS area for tor counts doesn't surprise me. Denver/Boulder area does.
  24. 2-3 foot diameter trees down in the Paxton/Gibson City area. But as storms move into Indiana CAPE is less so svr chances will probably lesson but storms could still pack a strong punch as higher dews move in from the west with the MCV.
  25. Nice small line of svr storms this Sat. morning from Champaign north into Iroquois county moving east. Maybe a LAF to Kokomo special midday before more serious chances arrive in central IL later today after peak heating.
