  1. The B word was already mentioned earlier by Stebo. Maybe he will be the good luck charm.
  2. And the new FV3 certainly outperformed the GFS in this current storm we just experienced. That and the European will hold my interest this coming week. At least there will be active weather to follow.
  3. About 8 inches of snow here in the Fortville area with more to come overnight. You may be right on those double digits.
  4. I-70 closed from Greenfield west to Mt. Comfort just east of Indpls due to fatal crash and I-65 closed north of LAF. Significant snowstorm for many of us in the sub to share both the wealth and the concerns.
  5. Snowing heavily still here at Fortville but looks like we will enter dry slot for awhile this afternoon before more returns from EVV nw to Carbondale come ne. Those returns are currently rain, but hopefully they will remain as snow when they get this far ne.
  6. Snowing heavily here at Fortville at 1:55 p.m. Larger snowflake size than earlier today.
  7. Nice burst of 35 DBZ snowfall over Indpls radar at the moment as returns increase in intensity now IMBY.
  8. About 4 inches here just ne of Indpls at Fortville at 11 a.m. EST. Still forecasting 5-7 when all is said and done but entering a bit of a lull at present time. The gap was anticipated in the forecast with the deformation band to pick things up later today and tonight.
  9. Was just looking at that earthcam shot. You can barely see across the river to the arch. Inch an hour rates in the current meso discussion.
  10. Hooray! My Sat. meeting has been cancelled due to weather so I don't have to risk driving anywhere. I can stay home and monitor the 5-7 inches of snow currently expected in my area.
  11. Talk about futility, as of Jan. 6 Indpls has yet to receive a season total of one inch of snowfall.
  12. I found it interesting that December 2018 opened with tornadoes in Illinois and closed on New Year's Eve with an EF-1 in Harrison county Indiana.
  13. 12z GFS showing an interesting ice/snow rain storm for Chi town IL and IN for Monday Jan. 7th. We'll see if it holds. Not that I want an ice storm. PAH is already scheduling spotter talks in their CWA for spring tornado season.
  14. Supposed to get less than a tenth of an inch precip tomorrow here in central IN, snow or rain. We still haven't reached a cumulative total of an inch of snow yet this season. Nevertheless I wish all of our posters here a White happy holly jolly merry Christmas and skill in forecasting upcoming winter storms in this new year.
  15. IND has had only .5 inch of snow this season so far and total precip for the year is only an inch above normal. Chi town has been much wetter.
  16. We've had freezing fog here in central IN in recent nights/early mornings and it is predicted again this Sunday night. Does make for slick roads if it forms.
  17. Thanks for that Boone N.C. webcam JackStraw. Having visited Boone and Grandfather Mountain I can say that the street looks fairly well plowed for the amount of snow which they have.
  18. And glad I bought the original fat green book as well. An amazing reference that I've used for years. Surprised me that a new update is coming out. Keep us informed. i hope the 2 volume update can be bought as individual books.
  19. New warning now for tor rotation for southeast Benton county IN.
  20. Storms are beginning to form now in eastern Illinois near Danville ahead of the main tornado producing cells and in sw IN. Central IN is still in the marginal risk of svr for overnight per SPC but I can only hope this would be for straight line wind or hail even though helicity is still high in the area.
  21. Unbelievable that this supercell just keeps going on and on and still producing.
  22. Winds are still backed from the se in that area up to Pontiac. But I would think once it crosses the warm front the supercell would lose the warm inflow. Amazing day today.
  23. Let's hope this doesn't veer more to the NE and hit more of Decatur.
  24. PDS warning for Blue Mound.....heading for Decatur's direction..by 6:15 CST if it maintains direction and strength
  25. Taylorville storm has ramped up again. Tornado emergency for Stonington with large destructive tornado
