  1. Thinking of 3 inches of snow here just ne of Indpls.
  2. I haven't either, but I have read that not all fly south for the winter. A number go deeper into forests in our region rather than suburban areas in the winter. That's why I've heard naturalists say that the red winged blackbird returning is a better sign of the approaching spring rather than the robin.
  3. And I have possible t storms with a high near 60 for this weekend into Monday. Crazy turnaround according to one local tv met.
  4. I was just wondering about that too. 10 at Mt. Comfort with an east wind. 18 at Indpls. Was supposed to rise as you indicated. Low tonight was supposed to be 18. If the low is moving more southward than expected as some previous posts have indicated maybe this will change things for our area. Bold prediction by Roger in the post above.
  5. IND calling for rain and high near 40 Monday. Wagons north!
  6. I like to think of myself as a seasoned observer since I remember Chicago's 1967 blizzard living in NW IN at the time and a high school student.
  7. Enjoy your possible ice storm Calumet and Chicago posters per NAM.
  8. If its any help we were in a similar position along I-70 for the Sat. storm which gave us more freezing rain than originally expected here in central IN and less snow.
  9. Moderate snow with lights flickering at times here just ne of indpls.
  10. 45 mph current wind gusts at Decatur and Mattoon IL will be moving on east into IN this evening. TWC says gusts may hit 50. Will bear watching overnight.
  11. Finally starting to get some sleet/snow here at Fortville just ne of Indpls as the column cools. Like Jackstraw I am concerned when the higher wind gusts currently at the IL/IN border area start making their way eastward this evening.
  12. More precip heading your way from the sw. My point forecast calls for 1-2 inches of snow for me the remainder of the day, yet I am have freezing rain starting to accrete on wires and tree branches. No mention of ice in current point forecast from NWS. WTHR reporting that Boone, Hamilton, Madison, and Delaware counties are getting significant ice.
  13. Surprised to find I had liquid rain most of the morning here with a puddle in my lawn. Now the Mt. Comfort airport is reporting 32 degrees and I have little icicles starting to form on my redbud tree branches. Winds starting to pick up from the north as well. Supposed to get 2-4 inches of snow from precip in the second batch later today if forecast is correct. Indpls concerned about flash freeze on wet surfaces tonight with a lot of events happening around the area today.
  14. Yeah, WTHR has me at 5-8 plus inches but also has moved the mixing line somewhat northward from farther south. Gonna be real interesting.
  15. I'll take what Mother Nature gives and enjoy the ride, rooting for folks elsewhere if that map verifies. But am concerned that the low snow in central regions means more rain or freezing rain that could lead to a flash freeze when the arctic air hits.
  16. That is certainly an impressive single LES band. Hope it comes to fruition for ya.
  17. 1000 mb surface low at present in sw OK with pressure falls ne to Cape Girardeau MO per SPC mesoscale. Is this thing coming farther north than expected? I originally saw a PAH to EVV track. And SPC still has a slight risk of svr down south for tomorrow....more than today's marginal risk. Am concerned like Jack on how this might affect the system moisture wise particularly with deformation snows.
  18. I can't believe FV3 is giving me over a foot of snow here just ne of Indpls when the local NWS is only predicting a few inches with mix. And this close to the event!
  19. 1320 tornadoes with first High Risk April 6 in the Plains. The Plains have got to get more active once again in a climatology sense.
  20. Well, I'm on the border of 3-5 and 5-7 per NWS for snow and a .10 to a glaze of ice. Other forecasts are different. Gonna be interesting.
  21. Convection now appearing in ne OK and sw MO with this first wave for Thursday. Did not expect that much intensity and hope it doesn't mess things up for Sat.
  22. As of right now unless something changes drastically I am looking at a repeat of last Saturday's 7-8 inches of snow in my area. Still a bit concerned with 850's though and WAA.
  23. Perhaps.....but the season started late along the I-70 corridor here in central IN with the snowstorm last Sat. But I am liking the current trends for the future.
  24. Well, the Euro says I get either 15 inches of snow or close to an inch of freezing rain and strong winds to knock out power. Too close to the border of each for my liking at this distance.
  25. Glad I have a contractor to do my driveway if this verifies.
