    Its been done before, i just dont know about in orange or rockland. A bit further up its happened, and a few years ago near high point as well. As far as i know they are considered the foremost experts on backburning and such, and with everyone using federal ICS and NIMS codeword command bullshit, they can fit right in to the ongoing operation without too much work. Even the regular helicopter drops are kinda terrifying, dealt with that last year when the old celery fields in congers and haverstraw burned when a train started a bunch of spot fires. Sounds like a tsunami falling from the sky lol

    Wind never died for me, hit 30 for a few mins. Funny how cold this feels right now though.

    Was enough to knock down most of the heavy fire, and will stop the nuisance runs from idiots accidentally setting fires for a day or two. Under that first layer in the woods still bone dry though.

    Half of rockland sent engine companies up to greenwood lake tonight. The rain is so close but even then prob not enough, would slow it down though.

    Nope, have hit 32 twice and 33 a few. Until the leaves are completely down i tend to run a degree or two warmer than some other local spots, thereafter im usually a degree colder.

    Hit 32 for a few minutes…still some time to drop another 1/2 degree or so, but i think we already bottomed out judging by the stations around me.

    Pretty decent sized fire up in Plattekill. Honestly surprised we havent had more.

    We went 17 and then made a stop at letchworth state park. Well worth the trip, its an awesome park. Colors were great in the hills there but northern orange and the western edges of sullivan and north were better than further north. Niagara isnt at peak yet, they seem on par with rockland honestly.

    Hapuna was great today. Coulda used a bit more wave action for my kids to boogie board but it was perfect, especially considering it was raining in Kona when we left this morning. Headed to Oahu for a few days before we head home.

    We’ve begun the long dance of discussing retirement options. Ive grown on her desire for a beach area. But florida and texas are hard no for me still lol
