  1. Picked up only a tenth or two of snow here. The precip moved out shortly after changing over.
  2. The latest euro drops a few inches on Cedar Rapids this afternoon, but the HRRR is less aggressive with the changeover. We're still 34 and rain.
  3. 00z euro.... weaker in Iowa, stronger in the lakes.
  4. I'd like to see some snow falling, but I've never been a big fan of rain to snow systems. If we get a couple inches it'll be heavy slop. Twenty years ago I wouldn't mind cleaning that up, but not so much now.
  5. 12z euro is holding serve, dumping a couple inches in eastern Iowa up to several in southern Wisconsin.
  6. There weren't too many memorable events around here this year. Generally wet, well above average for the year, but no events over 2.50". In September/October I recorded rainfall on about half the days. Back-loaded winter... Fairly snowy February, an 8" snow event in late March, and four small snow events in April Tornado within a mile of my house Highest wind gust (60-70 mph) in several years
  7. Cedar Rapids has hit 50 four times in the last week.
  8. It's nice to see a few model runs dropping a surprise Christmas snowfall in Iowa, including two straight runs of the euro. It's still far off, though.
  9. If the rest of your VP2 is still good, why not just hold your nose and get the replacement transmitter? What kind of warranty do these stations come with? While it would be nice to have my own weather station like the Davis, there are plenty of person weather stations in Cedar Rapids I can access through wunderground. I'm satisfied with that.
  10. I don't mind that this forum may not be exceptionally busy. I like to read what everyone has to say, and I really don't want to find hundreds of new posts every time I visit. If that was the case, I'd probably skip over a bunch of posts and end up missing some good commentary.
  11. I picked up 0.81" of rain, which was followed by a bit of light snow this morning. This is the first snow I've seen in daylight this season.
  12. That map says Cedar Rapids has received 6 inches, but it has only been 3. Even the airport south of town got nothing from the blizzard.
  13. Part of southern Iowa has received 20+ inches of snow this month. Meanwhile, I've received 3 inches and I don't think Ames and Des Moines have received more than an inch.
  14. I finished up my yard/garden work yesterday as well, trying to beat the snowstorm.
  15. Much of the extreme cold has been wasted here. I've still barely seen(in daylight) any snow, and won't until December(hopefully).
  16. Obviously, not a flake here. That Iowa University cam is a beauty. That snow is as heavy as I've ever seen on that cam. Oddly, there is still not a single storm report showing up on the Iowa Mesonet map east of Ottumwa.
  17. Cyclone should get in on the good snow, but the dry air is going to win along and north of Des Moines to Cedar Rapids. I'm not expecting anything now.
  18. For my area, this is one of those classic "in the bulls-eye three days out is bad" systems. I think that line is silly, but it worked out this time. It should be fun for Chicago.
  19. Despite currently being in the warning area, I also don't think Cedar Rapids will get much... UK nothing, Euro nothing, NAM nothing. The GFS should cave hard today.
  20. FV3-GFS also stronger and north, nails corridor through Cedar Rapids.
  21. It appears much of Iowa is getting the rug pulled from under it. You just can't get too excited until a storm is within 48 hours.
  22. We've had two snow events already, totaling 3.2". However, both occurred very late at night/early morning, so I've still barely seen any snow actually fall.
