  1. 1.05" of rain in my yard this evening, our first good rainfall this month. We still haven't had anything very strong this year. DVN issued a warning this evening, but it was not necessary.
  2. My county was severe-warned, but the wind maxed at only 30-35 mph.
  3. I also picked up 0.30" of rain, most of which quickly fell from a decent line of storms this evening. There was a bit of pea size hail and gusty wind.
  4. Yeah. While the weather has been pleasant and excellent for the garden, it's tough to watch our peak storm month waste away.
  5. It is looking generally uneventful here for the first half of June... quite the change from May.
  6. A lot of noise this evening, but the strong cell turned east and passed just south of the city.
  7. The storms just sw are crawling along, so all we are getting is light rain from the anvil blow-off to the northeast.
  8. I picked up 1.28". My 2-week total is 7.00". My May total is 7.78"
  9. It's a little outside the subforum, but there's a strong tornado scraping the southeast corner of Lawrence, KS, headed toward the northwestern KC area.
  10. The severe potential today has been pushed even farther south with a late morning update. The moderate has mostly been shifted into Missouri. A couple days ago models had the warm front through Ames and Cedar Rapids. Instead, it's well down in Missouri because of yesterday's strong disturbance and today's rain blob. Much of Iowa is stuck in the 50s.
  11. The first cell is forming a strong hook again.
  12. Well, so much for that. The severe potential has been shifted south and west. We've been downgraded.
  13. Tuesday evening looks pretty active over here. We're in the enhanced area now, but Des Moines thinks a further upgrade is possible.
  14. There is a strong tornado on ground just sw of Iowa City. KGAN has their chaser live right next to it, live on air. This is awesome.
  15. The Cedar Rapids airport just hit a dewpoint of 70 for the first time this year.
  16. We did quite well overnight and this morning. I picked up 0.80" overnight and a strong line quickly dumped another 0.79" this morning. Models under-forecasted how far south and east the storms would track.
  17. I picked up another 0.73" of rain today. My May total is now 4.61", with 3.83" of that falling since last Thursday.
  18. Today is a candidate for worst weather day of the month... 50º, rain, wind gusting to 40 mph. I thought we had turned the corner a week or two ago, but maybe this time it'll be true. Today's euro has us reaching at least 70º every day for the next ten days, with a few 80s mixed in.
  19. We peaked in the upper 50s today. Tomorrow we'll be stuck in the low to mid 50s with rain and wind. We sure have had a lot of this.
  20. OKC cancelled school today, but it'll be 9pm before any storms even reach OKC.
  21. Every run of the models looks about the same. The front pretty much stalls in the area through the entire period. Here is the new 10-day euro. The newly-planted garden will be begging for mercy.
  22. Cedar Rapids was in the prime spot this evening as the main wave lifted north through the region. I received 1.99" of rain this evening, making my daily total 2.16". Over the last couple days I've received 3.05". There is potential for more rounds of heavy rain next week.
  23. I picked up 0.89" of rain from round #1. It would be nice if we could consistently get something halfway between 50s and 90.
  24. A nasty-looking cell with hail cores is about to hit Cyclone.
  25. Total bust here, just some good lightning and a few hundredths of an inch of rain. It has just been a real struggle to get anything this spring. Tomorrow everything leaps north of my area. Hopefully, we can scrape something out of this pattern late in the weekend.
