Yeah I was noticing that there may be several that sees flakes flying. Also did yall notice the ocean effect snow? Thats how cold this high is being advertised currently.

Yep was just going to post this. This is a true arctic front also. Probably going to be lots of wind, dangerous wind chills, heavy bursts of snow, and really cold temps.

There seems to be a different solution everytime a model comes out currently. I have been honking cold and snow for Christmas but we are a week away but fun to look at.

Snow is banking up against the boarder. Things should start to pick up a bit more along the boarder.

Christmas still looks cold and snowy. Probably be the coldest temps of the season with the trough that is being advertised to come in.

I still like the idea of upslop snows moving in tonight through tomorrow in the favored areas. The NAM has been hitting this for several days now.

Sort of but Eyewall hit on what I was afraid of yesterday and it has come to fruition in my opinion.

We have had way better CAD situations in the mountains. Yes the most favorable areas are doing well but the cold air eroded very quickly around several locations in the mountains. A great cold air source would have temps in the teens. Yes congratulations to those seeing frozen precipitation. After the past few years people will be happy with whatever frozen stuff falls.

This cold air source was week in my opinion. Not enough blocking. Thats ok though I feel pretty good about the next month for on and off chances for snow.

Looking out on Christmas day it looks like we will finally have a cold and possibly snow Christmas day. More to come on that later.

Crazy crash in temps here under clear skies. Down to 27 degrees already. Very surprised for my area.

Its a ways out but both the GFS and euro have a significant trough moving in around Christmas.

Yeah looks like both the RGEM and NAM keep the 221 corridor from Newland north in the hot seat. HRRR is colder and would be some great sleet-sledding weather. Yeah for sure. Eyewall has some thoughts about the latent heating also that could cut things down a lot.

I could see that happening. Around Boone north could just get decimated by ice then upslope behind as the system pulls NE.

Ice is beautiful but that much you can tell your power bye for a week or more. Really unless yall want to live like your camping you want that cold air to be thicker so its more sleet or for the cold to erode away quickly. These systems though are hard to nail down.
