  15. That must have been fun times forecasting ‘93! I actually left campus and went home that weekend, family Iives in Duluth, GA at the time which is about 30mi NE of Atlanta. Got about 7-10, hard to really measure given the winds and drifting lol! If I recall correctly the blizzard warnings were a nowcast thing, was watching the weather channel sat AM and we went from winter storm warning, to heavy snow warning (remember those) then to a Blizzard warning. All in about 30minutes...things escalated quickly. The next day (Sunday) it warmed to near 50 under March sun and the melting commenced. I was able to drive back to campus on packed powder streets and slush. Back in time to watch the ACC championship game. After we won, some folks (mostly frats) decided to start a mini riot and made a bonfire at the corner of techwood drive and Bobby Dodd way. Melted the traffic light, lol. Cops and FD showed up, then someone decide it was a good idea to throw snowballs at the fire truck and firemen, let’s just say the retaliation by the FD was some errant hose work that left many wet and cold. Good times!
  16. Yellow Jackets win the Acc championship! 27 years 364 days since the last one, also the day after the storm of the century...what a time to be alive back then!
  17. Amazing event Omg 28 years ago! I am so old. Never thought I would be under a blizzard warning in ATL, or see Thunder snow there...I have been truly blessed by the weather I have seen in my lifetime...I have seen it all, from crazy blizzards in CO, to blizzards in DC, tornados to canes, but the Storm of the Century (20th Century) will always be the pinnacle....so far!
  18. Crap rates, today’s fireball and March sun angle....what could possibly go wrong. If only we were Denver! Happy to have experienced what is about to happen to them. My favorite was a late March Blizzard in 92, 80 at noon, cold front came through around 5 with tornado warnings, cranking snow and Thunder snow by 11. By 11 the next morning sun was out with about 25 inches on the ground. That was an epic 24 hour period.
  19. For Mappy’s Map: seasonal snow to date as of 2/26/2021 4.9”
  20. Homicide was one of my favorite shows too! Back in the late 90s it was fun to see where they filmed in Fells Point. RE: Evil Genius, while watching that show I realized I had recently been to the area around where all that stuff went down in Eire, pretty sure I I had been in the parking lot where the bomb went off...kinda crazy.
  21. I literally live on the rain/snow line of brood X cicadas here in Fairfax county. Not sure why, but literally had 0 in my yard in 2004, I could cross the street to the north and they would be all over the place. This map illustrates.
  22. Meanwhile, the state of “snow”pack on the coastal plain...in the shade...temp 65, was hoping for a run at 70...
  23. I will take historical March warmth...and drought! 80’s or bust!
  24. Me too, we usually do wind well. We will see.
