    Ok I checked my records...that storm was on the 5th-6th...i had 0.52" of precip and 4" of snow for the event, here on SI.

    If I recall correctly, the March 2001 storm wasn't a rain bust but a too far East development for snow bust...at least for more western locations. I remember listening to one of the accuwx mets saying how the storm would be moving west closer to the coast...and I kept looking at radar saying no it wont.

    One specific storm I remember from a young age was tropical storm Doria in 1971...I remember the flooding on the side of our house where my rain gage was...So I've been at this weather observing thing for a long time.

    Keep in mind that noaa hasn't predicted a below normal winter in the NE in a long time...I believe it's something like 10 to 15 years? At my station, going back 18 years it's split evenly between above and below normal winters as are the last 10 years. The last three winters have averaged above however. Lot of cold Marches lately, if you want to extend things.

    20 90+ days here so far this season...that's about normal for the entire season...looks like a couple more in the near term before we cool down.

    I often trust the forecasts here from some of our posters, more than I do from some of the pros in the media.

    He seems to have trouble with these marginal snow vs rain systems...going the warmer way more often than not.

    Yeah I remember waiting for those updates growing up lol...I remember back when Joel Meyers would do the mid afternoon updates.

    Met fall here finished as 4th warmest in 40 years, even with a cool November.

    I miss old time hockey...I had been a hockey fanatic since 10 years old..Starting last season, I don't really watch it anymore... I still follow it but get bored trying to watch it.
