  1. First half of the month looks like a snooze fest for weather enthusiasts. Will be a nice stretch though for outdoor activities.
  2. Dews back in the mid 70s. One more day with dews near 70 tomorrow, and then sub 60 Sat and into next week. Should be some late night Iowa sloppy seconds/anvil rains tonight.
  3. Amazing how low 70 dews feel almost like Canadian air compared to the low 80s the past few days. Definitely a huge difference in how that feels. Picked up 0.57" last night/early this morning, and closing in on 3" for August.
  4. 98 at both MLI and DVN, hit 97 here. Dews made it back to 81 earlier here.
  5. That corn's sweating like Patrick Ewing in the 4th quarter today!
  6. I remember when hitting an 80 degree dewpoint was kind of a rare occasion. Now it seems we do it multiple waves per summer. Hit 81 here earlier, and reached 94 for a high. MLI languished today and only mustered a lowly 93. Good chance they hit 94-96 tomorrow though for the highest temp of the season/year.
  7. For days the Euro and HRDPS showed storms blowing up last night over eastern IA/western IL, and then yesterday's runs suddenly dropped them. In reality nothing formed last night, so a major fail for both of them models. DVN all in on the heat, going with 97/98 for highs Mon/Tue and have issued an excessive heat warning.
  8. Debris clouds from the Missouri MCS negated today's 90, as 88 was the high at MLI, 89 here.
  9. Today starts what will likely be a 6-day stretch of 90s. Tuesday looks the hottest with 95-97 likely. That could also be the day we see the highest dews, possibly 81-82, so heat index values above 115° are looking possible.
  10. Still looking like 80+ dews for Mon and Tue. Could see some 110+ heat indices with temps in the mid 90s.
  11. Could be a repeat of last year in that the hottest air temps occur in late August. Looks like a good chance MLI can top the year's hottest (93°) Mon or Tue. Some potential for dews pushing 80° as well, although we are now past peak corn sweat season.
  12. Yeah it's definitely been a pretty wimpy summer for big heat. Highest temp here was back in June with 95. MLI has only managed to hit 93, also way back in June. We did get a pretty legit stretch of extreme humidity though, with low 80 degree dews back in July.
  13. Glad we got the rains the past few days as the rest of the month is looking pretty quiet.
  14. Another round of downpours dropped another 0.30" bringing the total to 2". Up to 2.22" for August.
  15. Apparently SPC is doing a midday day 3 outlook now? Must have missed that memo.
  16. 47 here this morning. Actually got pretty chilly in the house with many of the windows open all night.
  17. Feels like late September today with temps in the upper 60s and near 50 dews. Pretty refreshing after the opressive humidity Monday.
  18. What a change from yesterday's 80 degree dewpoints and 105+ heat indices. Today was spent in the 60s under a dense overcast with some occasional mist thrown in as well.
  19. Looking bone dry the first half of August around here. Quite the change compared to July.
  20. Pretty nice thunderhead boiling up just to the north-northeast. Dews have been hovering around 80 all afternoon, very oppressive. EDIT: Storm is dropping golfballs now up by Dixon.
