Agreed. I wonder if it has something to do with the orientation of the Great Lakes. The only one I have experienced on LI, the infamous sept 98 one came straight from the west, counter to the normal NW MCs source
You can tell that’s a true derecho now as it heads out to sea and is barely influenced by the cooler ocean. Should be interesting obs from the hotel buoy shortly
Turning into a mini derecho. Let’s see if there are any interesting coastal effects. There is a situation we’re a tsunami can from from the water being pushed out sloshing back
That almost looks derecho like for southern NJ. I’m sure there will be plenty of wind damage down there. We should at least get a gust front up to the city
Hoping for at least some rain with the second batch. The first line came through the island dry as expected. It must really be drying out over eastern Suffolk which missed last Saturday’s rain
It’s the warm anomalies east of the Bahamas that will produce. And its local weather patterns that allow for hits here. If things line up any year can cause a hit here. I have a strong feeling we at least have a brush this year.
Really bummed about the early shutdowns. I was planning on doing a 4 day weekend next week with 2 days Stratton 2 days sugarbush. Both are closed for the season now
Dust on crust. Your going to need a solid dump to fix things. The southern greens look like they are already in trouble. Season looks extra short this year
I was just thinking this weekend could be a glacier. Sunday was pure, perfect spring conditions. Had a really great time riding soft, but not too soft conditions.
Conditions were solid mid winter in SVT this weekend. Enough coverage to finally get into the trees. The line between awful winter and decent is right around the MA/VT border.
Had a great weekend at Stratton with firm groomers offering plenty of speed. Even in crap winters there are good days to be had if you put in the time.
I had one of my favorite mornings at Stratton of all time yesterday. I made sure to be there for first chair and had the place to myself until about 10 when everyone started showing up after New Years party’s. The 2” of sleet and ice had filled in gaps and 6” of snow over the following two days made for deceptively great conditions. Obviously it wasn’t enough to call it epic as it gets beat hard by afternoon. But for that golden 1.5 hours it was truly special.
Pretty brutal conditions at Stratton today with limited terrain and shave ice on ice. Monster crowds and lots of newbs made for allot of crashes. They actually stoped spinning the upper mountain lifts early when it got too ridiculous. Tomorrow will be interesting to say the least.
Great conditions today at Stratton with that mid winter vibe. The 20” earlier in the week and 4” yesterday have the place cruising. Even with the hit this week there will still be plenty of snow left
