  1. Came across this doing some research. Thought you folks might like it. https://books.google.com/books?id=QANPLARGXFMC&pg=PA69&lpg=PA69&dq=leap+lear+snow+storm+1984&source=bl&ots=34kFJ2Gor2&sig=ACfU3U3I88d2s1VA4biS8COoCJGlLgyy6A&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj-2ZDCwKHnAhVRlnIEHQ-6DgkQ6AEwAHoECAwQAQ#v=onepage&q=leap lear snow storm 1984&f=false
  2. Just one of those years unfortunately. At this point it’s looking like 1962/1993 or bust.
  3. 40 years of this B.S. has unfortunately given us a large enough sample size to make that statement. An outsider may simply look at the yearly snow totals and say things aren't that bad, suck it up buttercup. And that may be partially true. However I believe the NOWData maximum monthly snow depth shows the real picture. Compare 1949-1979 and 1980-Present. The number of months with double digit snow depths 1949-1979 dwarfs the past 40 years.
  4. Missing out on that storm last weekend really took the wind out of this place. If we had gotten at least 2-4" on the front end, the overall mood would have a bit more positive. But that dry air/WAA was really dissapointing, and bit unexpected. Hopefully we can pull something off before our 6 months of summer begin.
  5. Kinda funny reading some of the posts from the Upstate NY Folks bashing the kuchera maps for showing 2', but they only got 15-18".
  6. Good day to get out and run some errands, because it appears the radar is gonna be ugly. The GFS/GFS-FV3 was insistent on a shutout, and so far it's verifying. SMH
  7. I try to keep a balanced view, and stay positive. But sometimes it feels good to let the hate flow. Lol
  8. Being the coldest snowiest location in the Ohio Valley, is like being 9-6-1 in the NFL and missing the playoffs. Smh. Lol.
  9. Maybe if the wall doesn’t get done, we can get a petition going to bulldoze the Allegheny Front and Laurels, from about State College to Deep Creek. Those whining central and eastern PA folks don’t know how good they have it living east of the Apps. Lol.
  10. Living on a SW facing hill, I tend to lose snowpack pretty quickly, especially with SW winds. But it looks like everyones snowpack got decimated this weekend.
  11. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a US 119 special. Hopefully this will be the year.
  12. See what happens when winter gets off to a normal star, we can actually enjoy this mid winter break. Chasing snow into February causes every missed storm to be magnified.
  13. Oh yeah, SNE has been winning in general for a long time. They're naturally going to have better chances at snowstorms, just because of geography. But the last 15 or so years, has been win after win after win. Lol
  14. Lol. I wish it was only 4 or 5 years. BTW, saw the 12z Euro make a jump SE with the low next Monday night. Mabey we can get some snow to rain to snow action, like the old days.
  15. Once he hit the ground short of the goal line he technically became a runner, so the the control rule shouldn't have applied after he stretched out. Although, that third down play is what killed them. It's TD or throw away there.
  16. One question someone here might know. In NOAA's NCEI storm events database, where does the removed event data go to ?( i.e. pre 1996 winter weather etc. )
  17. Unfortunately I could only find clips for this storm in your area. (Pgh was kinda screwed, while State College got 2 ft) Anybody remember this storm. ( 3/1/94-3/3/94 ) It appears ORH did ok.
  18. We're in the colder snowier section of this region. But unfortunately this is our climo region. I never wanted to believe that this is our region, but when you look objectively at our climo, you can't deny the facts. Welcome to the snowbelt of the Ohio Valley. Lol
  19. Last real snowstorm for the metro back on 2/21/2011. This was a thread the needle type, that gave a relatively narrow area 8-9".
  20. http://www.wpxi.com/weather/chief-meteorologist-stephen-croppers-winter-weather-forecast/464949044 http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2016/10/27/chief-meteorologist-jeff-verszylas-2016-17-winter-weather-forecast/ Wtae was similar to kdka. It's still early, but for the second year in a row the warmer less snowy forecast is leading the way. Although Cropper waiting until 2/3 of November was over, and still including it in his forecast is weak sauce.
