  1. My aunt is one of them. She’s an ER nurse, she won’t abandon her house and her two dogs. In frequent contact with her right now.
  2. My Aunt who lives just west of Cape Coral is staying put.
  3. My aunt is just West of Cape Coral in Bokeelia/Matlacha.. visited there several times, would be a devastating hit.
  4. I have a friend just N of Tampa in Tarpon Springs, he’s not paying any attention to the storm. Bad call on his part.
  5. Ending September with just an incredible stretch of weather. The last six weeks have been filled with lots of sunshine, seasonal temps, and cool nights.
  6. Slowly but surely descending into my fall mood. August was truly just a gorgeous month filled with sunshine and cool nights. I’m ready for a batch of chili, football and no pumpkin flavored crap.
  7. August has been incredibly boring, September is 7 days away. Summer is gone in a flash.
  8. Nice view in the paign this morning
  9. Can always tell when you’re getting later in the summer, when you can smell the corn in the air. We actually lost power this morning from the early morning storms. It’s august folks, the apple orchard opened up here. Just unbelievable how fast time goes.
  10. It’s so dry here, and any beneficial rains are hard to come by. Not much rain in the next 7 days with another round of heat, will further exacerbate the drought problems here. surprisingly the random pop up showers that drop minuscule rains are greening up the lawns.
  11. Can’t believe next week is August. Good lord Summer ‘22 is flying on by.
  12. Locusts are out. Really a picture perfect July day. 82 full sun and no breeze. Summer is chugging along
  13. My temp gauge just 1 mile south of Willard airport had 100 for a solid hour. Inferno.
  14. Missed out on the rains Friday afternoon/evening, 0.5” in roughly one month at the homestead. It is bone dry.
  15. Moderate drought officially in east central Illinois. If this weekends rain doesn’t materialize, we could be in trouble. Right now forecast has 0.2”. 88 currently, should tag 90. lawns are getting crispy.
  16. Have to wonder if this flash drought will have a feedback loop for July and August. Mother Nature always has the final say, never thought two weeks away we were going to have back to back brutal heatwaves. the pattern sucked for March, April, May.
  17. Weather couldn’t be anymore perfect right now, 80 with 44% humidity. Kicked off Father’s Day weekend with some smash burgers off the blackstone , topped with Vidalia onion, garden tomato, sweet pickles and mustard. Cooked the pops dinner and we shared some IPAs. Happy Father’s Day to all those fathers out there, and especially @Brian D this has to be tough for you.
  18. I’m here, if you were even talking about me enjoying this weather. Although, with the miss south this morning, corn is starting to wilt and shrivel around here. It’s been an impressive heatwave in these parts. Crazy reversal of weather, cool and wet was the theme until 10 days ago, and now burnt grass and corn parched for water. Heatwave #2 next week. Was going to take the boy to the Brookfield zoo next Wednesday, but that’s postponed.
  19. Tagged 94 yesterday, and 92 today, today is much more comfortable with less humidity. Yesterday HI was at 103, it was swampy outside.
  20. Rain and overcast returning by the end of next week? Really hope we don’t have a summer 2009 redux.
  21. Summer mode 100% engaged. Getting the pool filled next week, the smell of grills in the air, and everyone in the neighborhood is chipper and out walking. I absolutely love this time of year, as you know summer is near and the humidity is low. Absolutely top shelf day. Dad and I are cooking all the women steaks and twice bakes, finally for the first time this year everyone is outside enjoying the weather with no wind. Bring on summer 2022!
  22. Spring 2013 was pretty damn awful too, this isn’t quite as bad. Farmers will be going gangbusters, as some fields remain virtually untouched from last harvest. the leaf out explosion will be fun to watch as well. After months of cold, overcast, dreary days next week will be good for the mental health.
