  1. It’s only gonna get better in about ten minutes. Just wait for it!
  2. Incoming Carroll county & northern Baltimore county crew…. It’s about to get real out there. Snow intensity picking up rapidly.
  3. Moderate snow - huge flakes. Really nice returns heading up the middle of MD. Man, give me a few hours of this and I’ll be happy.
  4. I honestly haven’t had a moment to check out any guidance the past few days. Radar looks solid. Too bad it isnt 5 degrees colder!
  5. Some decent snow falling! Wow. Def wasn’t expecting that
  6. Models have been signaling at this storm for about a week now. This was the storm I was referring to when I said @psuhoffman would likely hit 60” by the 7th. I actually really like the 5-7th window for a potential final biggie. It’ll be a small window, but if we can thread the needle, look out. Especially in N/NW zones.
  7. I actually think we’ve got a decent shot at a few inches up our way if moisture does actually come in overnight. We keep seeing storms that start later than models predict (5am instead of 1 am) which of course makes a huge difference as far as accumulations are concerned. Hope this one starts at 11p-12a and gives us a Good chunk of time without any sun.
  8. Next year is your guys year! I’m feeling it. The year of off-shore/East tracking coastal that hits 95 on east and fringes NW areas. Can’t remember which years that happened in the early 2000s (I was living in NY), but I recall a few years in a row where NYC LI and coastal NJ got hit and my area and places NW kept seeing advisory level snowfall. 3-6” at my house in stony point and 12+ On the island with 18+ in Boston was very common. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a winter like that. It may be coming sooner than later. I don’t think what we’re seeing this year is the new normal. I think it was just a crap ton of bad luck for the 95 area. Perfect track after perfect track with one or two ingredients missing. I know my brother feels it was a literal battle to get to 20”. You guys are due!
  9. Fully agree. It’s a shame too, because the potential was there for a decent number of good area wide snowfalls if just a few really small things went differently. A degree here, a slight shift in the track of the 850 low there. Believe they had 4 warnings issued along 95 that didn’t verify by about 15-20 miles. My brother has around 22” on the season just west of the turf valley area in ellicott city, but they could easily have 30-35 with a few small tweaks in each system. Considering this winter was supposed to be god awful, I’d say it’s been pretty darn good. Yes, more so for our areas than 95, but there’s been a good number of days with winter weather this year; something we didn’t think would happen a few months ago. Hope next year is a monster for the 95 crew. They deserve it after the past 5 years.
  10. That would definitely explain it. I guess it’s possible you got caught between banding during some of these storms, but that’s pretty unlikely to the tune of 10+ inches on the season. 35 def. seems a bit low compared to your surroundings when seasonal totals are 40”+ on both sides of ya. Feels like you’re missing about 6” from your total - perhaps a missed storm when you were away. I’m at roughly 600, so you’ve definitely got a little elevation on me, hence the confusion! I will say though… We have gotten really lucky here near the Frederick / Carroll county border with solid banding nearly every storm. I don’t have Thurmont type lift, but we’ve been lucky with QPF all season long not too Far East of there. Emmitsburg has been in the jack area all season - this season we have gotten lucky to be on the eastern flank of that jackpot, when in years past we normally get caught between areas of lift to our east and west. Going to enjoy it while I can! The 95 crew is due for a big season with East tracking coastals soon enough.
  11. You’ll get there. Not by Saturday, but by March 7th. That’s my guess.
  12. 35 for the year? Hm. You must be in a snow shadow next to the ridge for some of these storms. That’s a rather large difference between you, NE Westminster and Manchester. Especially since some places to your west are over 40-45” as well. 30” in February alone here. My totals typically line up pretty well with @losetoa6 since we’re not very far apart -however we both typically get less than PSU’ville. 46.75” total here for the season. I’ve got some elevation to help out, but am probably about 300 ft below PSU
  13. He definitely got his mama’s genes in this regard. Jess despises the cold and winter weather in general. Definitely didn’t get that blasphemy from me!
  14. The gradient of total seasonal snowfall between laurel/elkridge, ellicott city, sykesville, and taneytown is actually pretty mind blowing this winter. Ranges from about 15” to 50+“ within a 40 mile span. I know it’s colder up north, but that seems like way wider of a discrepancy than usual. (It definitely is based on all of the animosity received this season)
  15. 5” on the dot. Looks like that’ll be all she wrote as a slight snow / sleet mix is all that remains overhead. Helluva morning. Think there will be some 6-7” reports to my west and east in the higher elevated areas like Thurmont or PSU’ville
  16. Another storm, another ellicott city / Columbia transition zone. Reports of rain, snow, and sleet all coming from various parts of east HoCo. My brother said he had a healthy mix when he left his house off 108 and it’s pouring rain (freezing) near Oella
  17. Heaviest returns are now to my east, but damn that was AWESOME.
  18. Perhaps upload the video to YouTube and share a link?
  19. I have never once been able to see these videos. I just assume it’s snowing heavily and keep scrolling
  20. Sorry bud That’s unfortunately the same deal as every other city along 95 between Richmond and Boston. Not just here unfortunately. 2000-2015 was filled with winters featuring i-95 specials and area wide significant snows. We got a bit spoiled by it. Climo is just rearing its ugly head more than recent years this winter. Nyc has done better in comparison to its suburbs than Baltimore and DC have, but this is what the usual song and dance looks like in the mid Atlantic historically (outside of the past decade) it’s a shame — with some very small adjustments, 95 would definitely be well over climo. Hope there’s at least one area wide warning snowfall in the old tank before winter comes to a close. You all deserve it after these past 3 winters
  21. Keep ‘em coming PSU! #forumsnowcapitol
  22. Did you just shit on his 51 with a seasonal total from a highly elevated ski resort that averages nowhere near the rest of us annually? damn bro. Y’all cut throat. Hahaha
  23. From my brother in ellicott city — heavy ZR. I-70 must be the divide. Reports of heavy snow mere miles to their north.
