Heaviest snow I’ve seen all year at Sweet Farm road and Culver Road. Gotta be 3-4” hour pure fluff just pouring down.
Get the leaf blowers out.

This is what the snowpack looked like in my neighborhood this afternoon.

We flipped away from the stupid torch winds and have dropped almost 10 degrees this afternoon. Back below freezing again at 31 degrees with decent snow showers.
My snowpack survived our mini torch but is probably down to 2-3 inches. There are some small bare spots in drainage areas but the remaining snow will freeze into an ice sheet tonight.

Light snow here now, down to 37.

I thought we were finally done melting snow as much as temps dropped into the 30s...but nope, popped back up into the 40s in this stupid sauna of a city. 12Z model runs also now show lake effect snow avoiding us too. Winter in the Cuse rolls on...
It got down to 34 here last night but jumped up to 42 this morning. Had a narrow line of showers move through between 9:00 and 9:30 with about a 2 minutes burst of grauple. It’s sunny here now but cold air advection she start soon. Temperatures in Western New York are already below freezing.
Edit: should start soon.

I think I'm going to start monitoring the weather along the Belarus/Ukranian border; more interesting
You can monitor the Russian troop movements too.

Well obviously! I’m just trying to find a silver lining when we get 5 cutters over the next month.
Sounds like an early start to mud season.

Most March storms don't have snow last long as average temps by mid/late March are in the 40s. You need to move up to the Keeweenaw peninsula to get the winter you're after.
The sun’s angle is so high by mid March that it just vaporizes snow as soon as it comes out. That’s why, unless we can score a big one, snow after March 15 is a big waste.

God, look at that thing. Best storm ever. Can you imagine something like that happening again?!?
First time the Emergency Alert System was used for a weather event, at least in the northeast. Scared the crap out of me at first because I grew up learning that the EAS was there to tell us the USSR was sending nukes towards us. The conditions that came together to produce a storm of that size and intensity! Then to have the perfect track to nail Syracuse with 40+ inches of snow. Of course that was before Matt lived in the area.

Already hit it. Forecasted high was 41, which per usual, happened by late morning.
KSYR just hit 41. Where do you get your temperature from?

My thermometer says 46! We are going to lose a ton of snow today
The one thing that might save our snow (SOS) is dew points that are still below freezing.

Matt, do you think the Sizzle Capital of New York will hit 50 today?

Snowfall chart put out this morning by the NWS in Buffalo. Carol in Redfield leads but not by much over Cattaraugus Tom in Lowville, you’re in the lower half Hard to believe Geneva has only had 27.1 inches so far.

I think where lake effect happens it quickly changes the ratio game. So it’s definitely hit or miss.
I just measured and I only got 1.5 inches in the last 24 hours. Add that to the 7.7 inches from the first two waves gives me 9.2 inches so far.

They weren’t at all- at least here.
It’s easily 18” at this point all in and still pouring snow.
Lesson learned…
It’s probably half that here.

Thank goodness the Winter Storm Warning ended, as we can continue getting our best snowfall of the event now.
I knew I should have waited to snowblow.

Across northern Onondaga County snowfall amounts on CoCoRaHS were remarkably uniform between 7 and 8 inches with ratios just over 10:1.

7.7 inches here. I’m still waiting on the liquid equivalent. I’m going to need to induce melting.

There's a dude on here (Jebman) who was also a poster decades ago on, I can't remember if it was Easternuswx or Wright-Weather (former forums), who is extremely passionate about winter and his walks. At the time, he lived in the Mid-Atlantic (now Texas...strange...lol) and would post about his many walking adventures in the snow with many adjectives. Just a very funny, enthusiastic guy who "blogged" his "Jebwalks for all to read. The term has stuck.
Didn’t he love to shovel snow too. It seems to me he would post that he was getting ready to shovel his driveway and sidewalk and his neighbor’s too.

One of our local mets is forecasting 56 on Thursday which in the Sizzlecuse translates to 60.
