HWW was a totally bust here. Curious to see the winds around the area though, I imagine some areas did a lot better than here.

I just went outside and the trees weren’t even moving. Dead calm. Idk maybe it has something to do with the wind direction

Not trying to ginx it but the wind here has been a dud so far. My brother just came up here from fairfield and said it was way worse down there. Odd.

Pretty calm here so far but guessing that will change. My brother already lost power down in Fairfield.

This is a rainer for SNE but the ski slopes could be in for another big time event.

The area is inverted with strong low level jet through the afternoon. Winds have been running weaker than forecast so far despite the strong winds aloft. Think winds will reach advisory criteria everywhere with the cold front passage as strong cold advection and mixing takes place. This is when 45 to 50 mph gusts are likely around 7pm to around midnight. The low level winds decrease thereafter as the pressure gradient relaxes.

The region is in the warm sector of this system on Wednesday ahead of the incoming trough and cold frontal passage late Wednesday evening and night. A tightening pressure gradient at the surface and a strengthening LLJ, progged around 65 to 75 kt at 925 mb Wednesday afternoon will lead to gusty conditions at the surface. Soundings continue to indicate a strong inversion that should cut down the strength of these gusts at the surface, but likely still allow gusts to exceed 35 kt, especially as the cold front advances east. Wind Advisory is possible at least for eastern coastal areas, but still some time left to fine tune this. Rain showers will be ongoing Wednesday morning and likely continue intermittently through the day, although a complete washout is not expected.
