  1. Wind is ripping here, more windy than I thought it would be
  2. NWS calling for a low of 42 here tonight but its already 38. I'm guessing it will warm up as clouds move in but could be frost beforehand.
  3. I have waded South Toe and other mountain streams without waders in early May before. South Toe was frigid even before this cold snap last week, could make for good fishing deep into summer unless it dries out.
  4. Its 45 here at 1250 feet near Marion, and at over 6,000 feet at the Mt Mitchell weather station its 24.1 on May 6 at 8 p.m. Crazy.
  5. I'm shocked the temperature dropped so quickly here even in the foothills. It went from 68 earlier to 45 now with a stiff northwest breeze. Coldest May evening I can remember in ages.
  6. I caught over 20 trout on South Toe yesterday, the water was still a bit high and there were tons of people on the river. Had them for supper too, good eating!
  7. I was on South Toe this morning haha. I have used a 12 foot Field and Stream Eagle Talon from Dicks Sporting goods and it does well on the lakes and would do fine in class 1 and 2 water. Anything more than that would be tricky
  8. Up and down April here but it ended up around normal Temps and well above normal precipitation. Highest temp 82 Lowest temp 25
  9. Models hinting at another pretty strong trough and cold shot late next week. Euro has more high elevation snow and could be more widespread frost.
  10. Could be severe weather for Carolinas Wednesday, looks more like a squall line than embedded cells but could be a strong one Wednesday evening
  11. Heat looks to build in the lower plains and Texas late next week. Still seasonal or cool on the east coast until next weekend at least though.
  12. It really sucks because it will probably just go straight to 90s here in May.
  13. This April has generally sucked for Western NC, I have had 3 nights under 30 (more than March already), multiple days with wind gusts over 45 (most windy April I can remember) And over 4 inches of rain (probably be over 6 within a week)
  14. Looks like we are entering a period of below average temperatures for the next few weeks.. very few 70s, mostly 60s and 50s in the mountains. Quite a bit of rain too
  15. Well water levels will be good for a while now...
  16. Anyone go fishing today? I read that the resource commission wont be stocking as much this year due to covid.. The crowds have been crazy on the creeks since everyone is out of work almost..
  17. Better hope for heat and humidity, some research shows it slows and kills this virus
  18. Give me heat and humidity I dont care as long as it slows this virus down
  19. Socon tourney eh? I got free tickets for Monday's Men's Final. Perks of being with the city.
  20. The orientation of this event looks more like the true NWF events. The northern mountains may do better than the smokies and other areas that were racking up with the other events.
  21. I have caught big brown, smallmouth, walleye and more on a brown trout rapala minnow. It's so much more exciting fishing with plugs than live bait or even spinners
