I am so grateful and blessed that my house was spared from the worst. Our property did flood and we lost some farm equipment but I am so grateful to God and praying for those who are suffering. The national guard is here now and more help is on the way.

Most of the shops in Marion close to the river are underwater. This isn't far from my house. Still no word on the damage.
While leaving I witnessed trees on power lines, many in the road, trees on houses, cars, flash flooding, signs blown over or crushed by trees and more.
I left the no service area safely and am in Virginia with the in laws. Still couldn't get to my house before we left but it doesn't look good. Not sure what's next other than determining how bad it is which will be tomorrow with nightfall approaching and the river still in flood.
Thank you. We are about to pack up and leave to somewhere with power. It will take days and weeks for McDowell and WNC to recover. Maybe even years. With the river at 21.5 I'm fairly certain my home is flooded. Glad I made be decision to leave. My prayers are with everyone. I dread the upcoming news
It's awful here in McDowell. Catawba has broken the record and may well go to 20 feet. I'm so worried I am going to lose everything. Water is spilling 7.5 feet over Lake Tahoma dam. If it's compromised the whole area is in big trouble
Power is out here in Marion. At my sister's place that is far from water but elevated. Wind is getting frisky here already.. Catawba closing in on 15 feet. Record from Frances is 17.55. I think that record will shatter later.
Question is will it get up to 20 feet. My house should be fine up to 20 feet.
