If this pattern continues, it's only a matter of time before major flooding issues in western NC and SC. Already had some mud/rock slides with the last system and it will just get worse.
Won't be long until the "maybe a bowling ball ULL in Late Feb or March will save us" or the 1960 redux! And definitely the "well it was a very mild winter before the blizzard of 1993 too".
More than 2 years here. It's been generally wetter than normal here since 2013. I saw mosquitoes the other evening. It has only been below 20 degrees once and that was in November.
The past few weeks have been more like Seattle than Western NC.. We are over 5 inches here in the past month and it looks to be very soggy in the next 2 weeks..
And you all were hating so bad on my posts a month or 2 ago about this winter sucking and being over... LAte next week I expect flowers and cherry trees to bloom for parts of the south
This is the sanitarium so it makes me feel better to complain. I'm usually pretty positive but I am just super sick of all the rain. I could use some cold and dry. My area has been devastated from flooding this year.
The pattern change looks like crap right now. Next 10 days have no real threat and after that we will basically be in February. This blockbuster winter is quickly going down the drain...
The long range GFS and Euro for that matter seem to hint at a SE ridge popping up.. At least enough of one to keep the storm track into the Ohio valley.
What an odd winter this has been so far.. A huge snowstorm in early December.. but almost no true arctic air to speak of.. I dont think it has got into the teens even here in Southside VA... Grass is turning green past few days and trees and flowers are showing signs of budding out.
