  1. That's awesome. We're still holding onto 1-2" snow depth here in the lowlands...but we DO still have it, which is a miracle of sorts for us. Currently at our forecasted high of 28. After an MLK week with snow on the ground most of the week, two full daytime's worth of snow falling, and a decent squall line blowing through last Sunday...this has been one of the most satisfying winter weeks we've had in these parts in awhile.
  2. Seriously. We just exited one snow streamer about 30 min ago, and had a bit of sunset and twilight afterward before full dark...but everything that was wet is flash-freezing. Slid almost the entire way down to the end of the driveway to check the mail a few minutes after taking this one. Please be careful out there tonight, folks, if you have to be out on the roads...
  3. TY...but my post-shoveling pics don't compare to your opportunity to getting out of the hot tub with outside temps in the low TEENS. Enjoy all of that and more!!
  4. Radar appears to be getting ready to "streamer" us...and yes, light snow has once more kicked in. 33 degrees.
  5. That IS gorgeous...OMG, all of the tree stickage! Love that in these types of storms...
  6. What an awesome snow event we had today...as I've already mentioned, I was content to accept my previously forecasted 1", but am over the moon to have just measured 3.2" IMBY. And after a brief lull and the sun peeking in weak-tea fashion through the clouds, the overcast has moved back in and we are snowing lightly AGAIN. One or two of those streamers are taking aim at us. Went out to shovel last hour, and in celebration I wore my sock-puppet-monkey pigtail hat...which I only break out for very special NoVA snowstorms in my old age...and...yeah, I took out that supplemental accessory on the right, filled with some liquid inspiration. What a great week of snow...
  7. DAAAAY-UMMMM!!!! Thanks, @CAPE! I think you should pull up a chair on the deck and enjoy one of your killer IPAs while it's snowing today!
  8. Can confirm, have had steady snow for past two hours but it's picked up in intensity even a bit more. Although it looks like it's building a bit more NW into the District in last few radar runs (?)
  9. How 'bout some pics from your neck of the woods? I always love to see your home in the snow!
  10. LOL. A few others have asked about that over the years. My property backs to the U.S. Coast Guard's Navigation Center in Alexandria...essentially the nerve center for all of the CG's IT/IS services, hence the gov't issued fence topped with barbed wire lining my land's back edge, with scary signs pointed at our side of the fence stating, "US Government Property - NO TRESPASSING." "Short Pump!" DRINK!!! Final thought -- please keep posting pics from where you're at and as you're able, everyone. I LOVE to see 'em all.
  11. Humans (at least in this forum) aren't the only ones who love to stare at the snow...although in fairness, Kona is also "stalking" backyard squirrels from her cozy perch at the end of the couch. Also, I never tire of looking at snow-blasted trees...ever. Currently 30 degrees, went from pixie dust during the 7-10 a.m. timeframe, and it's been steady SN since around then. Haven't measured but I think we're just under 3"...I would've been happy with 1" forecasted as recently as yesterday afternoon. Could not possibly ask for a more perfect or beautiful winter day.
  12. 32 with 2.75" new snow...slight bust higher for what I expected so I'm happy. Just beautiful out.
  13. Agree 500%. I detest living in the close-in DMV metro, but if I could remedy the situation at all (or had to stay in VA for the rest of my life)...I would live in the Valley. Our youngest attended and graduated from JMU several years ago...and I relished every opportunity that we got to drive out of the metro area, out west on 66 and down south on 81...and see the kind of views that you posted here. #HeavenOnEarth
  14. Yeahhhhh, but you're a long-timer, who knows what he's looking at, looking for (based on your climo), and can interpret it all, based on the various models/discussions. I'm still working on all that...in PBP on the short-term threats, as well as in the long range convos. I'll occasionally attempt comic relief...but that's a bit of a cop-out. As someone who wanted to be a met from a very young age (but failed to have the requisite STEM abilities/acumen)...I've enjoyed every minute checking in here for well over the past decade to observe, listen and learn.
  15. Yeah, I feel ya. Still fun to switch...and learn...between all of these convos. And even after a couple decades, I've got a lot to learn... That animated GIF isn't an exaggeration, either...I keep at least one AmWx thread open on my work laptop AND another on my personal Chromebook to my left. Shit moves too fast these days...
  16. ME...currently attempting to monitor the Long Range, Jan Discobs, Jan19 STORM Discobs, and Banter threads...
  17. Will gratefully accept 1.5-2" for my neck o' the woods...compared to what my forecast was 24 hours ago.
  18. Oh, and you're NOT wrong....we always want the door that we ultimately didn't choose.
  19. Yep, we've been above freezing since about 1 p.m. here today...although compared to yesterday (where we didn't break 32 at all but lots of sunshine), there's been minimal melting, presumably because it's been cloudy most of today. In any event -- I'll take it as a good lead-in and stage-setting for tonight/tomorrow's storm.
  20. Replying here in banter...I would've thought, based on your (presumed/assumed) age, that you would have NO idea who Monty Hall, let alone what "Let's Make a Deal" is...but kudos to you, good sir. I have an even greater respect for your cultural references now.
  21. 15.3 / 5 currently...with a gorgeous, cotton candy sunrise.
