    Ughhh, the scream of the female fox letting potential mates that she's on the market. And agreed, it is a bloodcurdling, otherworldly sound like no other, especially if you're not anticipating it. Our property backs to the Coast Guard's deeply-wooded Alexandria compound, and there's a handful of female foxes roaming their property at any given time. Some nights it sounds like we live next to a haunted graveyard.

    It surely does. And I'll never stop being astounded at the randomness of tornado damage...with one property (to the left) having little to no damage, while the property to the right looks like it had a mini A-bomb dropped on it premises. Yep, same here...sun working hard to break through, and it looks on the GOES satellite feed like there may be more substantial breaks heading this way from the valley.

    I don't know...just looking/watching/observing here in my little corner of the world and I'm not feeling it. I could totally be wrong...like on Friday night, when we got the best lightning show of the past five years.

    This is an EXCELLENT emulator, @KAOS, TY for sharing! I'm sharing another here from real "old school" TWC, that someone else here on the sub turned me onto a month or two ago. I sometimes just let it cycle in the background on my laptop while working through the day...but will swap it out with this excellent Intellistar emulator now....     I am not always a sour fan....but MAN, that sounds like a tasty combo!! I am staying fairly "pedestrian" this afternoon...sticking with a couple Port City (Alexandria) beers...since we moved our grilling day up one afternoon, given tomorrow afternoon's potentially more sucky/more severe forecast.

    Yeah, interesting...lots of popcorn showers/storms on either side of the Bay this afternoon. And a somewhat derecho-ish looking line just on the other side of the Apps heading this way as well. We'll see...

    Stunning photography...as always. I've observed and learned so much from the way you compose your shots. More to the point...I took it for granted for the few times that I traversed it over the past several decades, but as truss bridges go, the (former) Key Bridge was one of the most streamlined and majestic truss bridges I've ever seen. And your photography perfectly documented that over the years, so...thank you for that.

    Yeah, late last evening was the most rough/tumble stormy wx we've had in these parts in awhile...great light show! Ahh, MAN, that sounds PERFECT!!! It's kinda stinky hot/muggy down here in the burbs -- currently 91 -- but I'll gladly take it cuz for a change, it's mostly sunny and NOT raining! And always remember...when it's sunny and not raining in late spring and summer, enjoy life like your dog does (as Kona was doing here yesterday afternoon).

    Saw that cell (one of only 2-3 smallish cells left on radar at that point) dead-on targeting B.Creek on my final radar check last evening and thought, "Bet Mrs. J stays up for this one." Sounds like you didn't have a choice... Currently 69 and muggy. Some showers to our SW threatened to graze us 30 min ago...like yesterday afternoon's storms, they've missed us, but a line of stronger showers, maybe some lightning, getting its act together and heading this way now. Gotta head out to cover the patio tables/chairs...so much for working out there today.

    Adding to my own observation...the STW *just* came through on the wx radio. Again, odd. It's usually instantaneous on the wx radio.

    So...did anyone with a wx radio get the actual alarm/notification on this? I see it was issued at 3:09, but my alarm didn't go off at all in the last 10 min.

    So...those corded hedge trimmers? The kind that one typically has to plug into a reeaaallly long extension cord, to lug around the extent of one's hedges lining the front of the house? Yeah, I was doing the lugging of the trimmer last year about this time, was at the far reach of the 100 ft extension cord and down to the final two hedges, and I wasn't paying attention to the tautness of the cord and....sliced right through the extension cord while coming around the back of one of the hedges. It's a truly humbling experience. The upshot is that my wife insisted I order the Makita cordless hedge trimmer two days ago (we already have the Makita battery powered mower, weed whacker and leaf blower), so that I can get the hedges done before the holiday weekend WITHOUT destroying any more 100 ft extension cords. A new Makita cordless toy...I can't wait!!

    Interesting question....and we have probably 10x the amount of mushrooms in both front/back yards, that we "normally" get during a given year. I'm assuming it's due to those several wet stretches over the past two months.

    But of course...it's Memorial Day weekend! Living in this area 30+ years now, I can remember far many more crappy Memorial Day weekends (e.g., rain, storms, overcast) than not...

    Good looking doggo! And it appears that you got more sun than we did just south of Capital beltway yesterday afternoon, though we got a few cloud breaks and then mostly sunny after 5-ish or so. Currently 62 with some fog, though not the warned pea soup I guess others nearby are experiencing.

    My wife is doing yeoman's work keeping the pansies alive on the front stoop, which gets full/blasting southern exposure sun from about 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. This collage of pics, however, was taken between last weekend and this weekend during our "less than sunny" weather...
