  1. You can be concerned for the planet and not be a hypocrite if you don’t jump all in on reducing your carbon footprint to zero my friend. It’s like if you are more concerned about gangs and drugs, it doesn’t make you a hypocrite if you don’t spend all your free time mentoring at-risk youth and serving at your local addiction clinic. Being concerned with something doesn’t mean you have to devote everything to that cause... you can be in favor of policy that helps the greater good. There’s just something about climate change that seems so touchy and gets folks all riled up.
  2. That was a surprisingly well articulated description, thanks. Put me in the camp that these pattern changes take a bit longer than advertised, but eventually it’ll change. The ebbs and flows of NE Winter.
  3. I’ve heard this January 20th mentioned a lot. What happens on the 20th?
  4. Still snowing lightly. Been a good 30 hours of snowfall with this system, ha. About an inch every 8 hours or so. Since noon yesterday, the ASOS has reported -SN every observation except for 1-3am last night.
  5. When the models had it, you said forget it. Then the models forgot it and now it’s coming. I love it, always entertaining.
  6. It'll be rough, especially after a nice week of snow showers. A couple good rounds that might bring 4-8" to the ski areas this week just in time for the torch to come next weekend. Just gonna be one of those winters.
  7. Pretty good upslope flow going on this morning. Moisture getting wrung out rather efficiently right now. Big wind blow flakes at the mountain.
  8. Rare times when Will and Scooter are leading the optimism charge.
  9. Looks like fairly frequent rounds of snow showers at the least over the next couple of days. Fast active flow.
  10. You take the small victories. Keeping consistent but low snow cover is this season’s one redeeming factor. As long as it looks like winter, we take in this horrible long wave pattern.
  11. Nice little parting shot for the village. It is dumping out there.
  12. Feels like an ALB snowpack in early January... 6" of wet semi-frozen mashed potatoes and some new wet snow on top.
  13. So much bickering going on lately...
  14. Wintry appeal at home at least.... freshen up the look despite a meager total that will end up under 2" most likely. Great vibe this evening up at the ski resort thanks to the light snowfall. People seem very happy when it snows during their vacation up north and it rains down south. It is very interesting to hear how many folks mention it isn't snowing where they are from. The Tippy psych analysis is that it probably fits the stereotype of snow up north and validates their decision?
  15. The radar certainly supported Sugarbush getting more today. Overnight it could dry out and the northern spots may catch up with upslope on half the liquid. I do think SB/MRG got the best QPF.
  16. They were getting hammered this afternoon. Best axis was central ADKs through Sugarbush to MPV highlands, at least what I could see. 1.3” of paste at home. Looks real pretty though, seems about the best way to run that low snowfall. Every little twig is hanging onto snow. Was 2.5” leaving the mountain at 8:30pm.
  17. 2” of absolute paste on the car at the mountain. Probably 6-7:1 ratios. I noticed MVL was 33-34F the whole time...that won’t cut it without some big rates. Snow Cam showing 3.5” or so up at 3,000ft.
  18. The Sugarbush web cams looked real nice this afternoon. I think SB jackpotted today. We are up to 3” at high elevations but only 1-2” down around the base area.
  19. Pure butter (or buttah as they say) this morning with above freezing temps and thick high ratio snow groomed out... I love this surface condition. GP crushing it down Gondolier today. 3-6" or 4-7" type event coming up for the hill from noon Saturday to noon Sunday IMO.
  20. It is very sound logic in this progressive flow. The non-sound logic that gets to the same ending is that lows trying to track over the coastal plain from HFD to PWM usually tick east anyway towards the water and baroclinic zone along the water. I’m always skeptical of that track as shown.
  21. Man if we could only lock that in. Sucks its still 4-5 days out. 24-hr totals. Just a huge chunk of New England in 6+. Most of it occupied by trees and moose though.
  22. It’s January 3rd. That seems like a long time away.
  23. Still a nice event on the Euro. Should be good for a few inches tomorrow.
