Yeah tilt 4 on radarscope does the best for me... beam still is blocked by a few peak tops (like Mansfield) but by and far it shows the best of what's going on IMO. On Wunderground the 2.45 degree scan is my favorite as the lowest that doesn't hit the peaks. J.Spin probably 1"/hr just above the "W" in Waterbury. I hear I-89 through the Spine is near whiteout.

Just nuke town. Roads are a mess. Everything plastered in town. Drier up at the hill.

That's great for the local mountains there... probably enough for you to skin up the neighborhood hills? That's a "game changer" for injecting a shot of frozen water into the snowpack.

HRRR keys more into the terrain though. Mansfield to Jay Peak stretch should do quite well as ratios increase. Ends with -12C 850mb temps which should promote some decent snow growth.

Yeah, I now see the guy a couple hundred feet above you has been listed in past NWS Chat as RANDOLPH 1.4 NE 44.39N/71.27W 1775. Good thump there for sure. The latest 18z EURO actually has a more widespread look to precipitation between 7pm tonight and 7pm tomorrow night than just purely orographic. This second part could be a fun event in it's own right.

Is that the guy up at 1750ft on the report? The lat/lon is pretty close but only at 1600ft. I bet your property saw 8-10” for sure.

Yeah the Adirondacks were certainly deeper into cold air for sure. Pretty heavy elevation gradient around here but the QPF totals are pretty similar...which with such low tide is what really matters. This stuff was thick wet paste. Cleaning the 5” off my car at the end of the day, the bottom 2” we’re just like slush and ponding water.

Yeah agreed. We had 5” at 1500ft and 8” at 3000ft... and it contains a lot of water. I think we can add 6-12” next 24 hours on the upslope. A perfect right side up storm... bread and butter on top of pot roast.

Had 8” of paste today above 2500ft. 5” at 1500ft... of just water-logged blue snow.

Nice, it should keep coming lightly up there before the wind switch to WNW. I picture you in a dark room in Maryland right now with multiple TV screens and monitors going with your webcams, watching it snow just like you were there ha ha.

That’s awesome. Lots of of 12-18” in the southern/central Greens. My buddy at Killington showed what looked like 10-12” on roof of car.

Back to just pounding wet snow over here. The upslope signal tonight and tomorrow is just sick. There’s a lot of residual moisture around to get wrung out. Most models have 0.5-1.0” QPF as upslope for the Spine. Here’s the GFS starting at 9pm tonight through 9pm tomorrow.

We actually flipped to light rain in the dry slot at 1500ft but as soon as echos moved back in it went back to snow. 4” of mashed potatoes.

The 12z NAM is just nuts with the upslope too.

Up to 6” total above 2500ft. 2” last hour on the snow cam.

3-4” of just paste at 1500ft. Feels like roughly 1”/hr snowfall but the water has to be like 0.15”/hr.

It is absolutely puking QPF as wet snow. Starting to think we lose power. 1500ft is a pure paste bomb. Getting some really good SE flow upslope into Mansfield I think. Echos keep washing over the east slope. Can see the west slope mixed precip bright banding.

I’d be driving north from Maryland so fast right now, ha. Its snowing good paste over here at 1500ft. A couple inches so far. Don’t need a power outage on MLK Saturday at the ski area, though things would get interesting in a hurry.

1-1.5” of wet snow at 1,500ft. This is power outage snow if an inch of QPF falls today.

A pasted quarter inch on the trees. Very wet it seems. This forecast for the mountain seems aggressive. Today Snow. High near 31. Breezy, with an east wind 19 to 24 mph becoming east 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches possible. Tonight Snow. Low around 27. Light west wind increasing to 11 to 16 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible. Sunday Snow. High near 27. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

A friend described it accurately as an atmospheric tide going inland on SE flow (well up into Ontario/Quebec), and then getting blown out on a WNW flow. The moisture will go one way, and then back the other way out to sea. Those different motions will result in different precipitation patterns too.

Yeah, that freezing drizzle has to be all low level stuff... you are primed with moisture and ready to go. Once the deeper mid-level lift moves in, bet that’s good dense flakes.

I think those elevations get smoked pretty good down south. 10”+ possible. They do well with enhanced lift on the eastern side of the southern Greens.
