  1. These sunsets have been crazy. Its also crazy that if we wanted to watch the sunset in July we’d leave our house 4 hours later than today.
  2. No mask on your face. You big disgrace. Spreading your germs all over the place. We will, we will, rock you.
  3. Oh for sure I know what you were up to and it’s easy to see where he’s going too, ha. Its a hot topic right now but the act of creating an account for a third-party outfit like AMWX means you lose that freedom of speech to the admin of whatever platform you sign up for. Thats why these places have you check a box that states you agree to their policies. You don’t check that box “I agree” for nothing.
  4. I’d bet 70% of us technically shouldn’t be on here during the work day anyway regardless of topic . Always use your phone and not the company network.
  5. Free speech doesn’t mean you can use someone else’s platform to say whatever you want anyway. I’m not sure why that’s a difficult concept lol. Pretty sure the forum rules state no politics unless in OT and we all agree to that when creating an account.
  6. It’s true. No one has changed their view nor will they. Its not a discussion, just people talking at each other and more join the conversation as they disagree with what’s said. Thats the internet now though.
  7. I would almost argue the opposite in our experience up here. People don’t want to work the service jobs and can’t find staff because they are afraid of the number of people they will need to come in contact with. Lots of incentives starting to pop up for workers as places struggle to hire. Many are now taking less money or no money to stay home, lol.
  8. This cracked me up... gotta laugh once in a while.
  9. Hope all went well Ginxy. Best of luck on the other surgery.
  10. Mansfield ripping off 5 straight record highs, all close to the 63F November record since 1954. Also of note is the large percentage of 2000+ years in the record max temps in general. The last 20 years dwarf the previous 46 years for warm records up there.
  11. The fact that its so dark and yet so warm is super confusing lol. BTV destroyed its warmest 7-day period in November on record by 4 degrees. The mean temp over the last 7 days was 59F and the previous record holder was 55F. This is a week similar to September climate or Memorial Day Weekend. I have no doubt that Mansfield also crushed its previous 7-day warmth in November as 5 straight days were all within a few degrees of all-time November warmth. We’ve had some whopper warm records this year now in the bookend months of May and November.
  12. Warmest 7-day period in November for BTV since 1884... by a full 4 degrees. Old 7-day record mean temp was 55.2F in 1938. The past 7-days averaged 59.4F. Thats f’in wild.
  13. It felt colder inside my place than it did outside when I got home. Opened everything up. I think it was the 60-62F dews causing that feeling, but crazy to come home on November 11th and think it’s warmer outside than inside.
  14. Yeah I love Reuters. The one thing that doesn't help our news sources is the pushback they get when they do post something their "base" doesn't want to hear. The news is almost like a stumping politician itself... don't want to stumble or say the wrong thing or else you'll lose your viewership. "CNN said what about Democrats not being respectful?!?!" "Fox News doesn't say Trump won the election?!?!" "I'm going on social media to let them know that is NOT ok, and then I'm going to find a news source that tells me what I want to hear." I mean even the President does that. These news sources either need to grow a pair and take the heat, or we will just continue down this path of shaping stories solely based on viewership.
  15. There are plenty of good news sources left... the problem is we as a society have gotten to the point where we don't read what we don't want to hear. Plan and simple. "Fake News" isn't truly "fake" as in made up... it means "news we don't agree with." The nation is as divided as it ever has been and people go to the comfort of their sources that tell them what they want to hear. Its complete echo chamber and you throw out any news you don't like as "fake" or that's what a powerful person has taught us. I actually enjoyed just reading through what ModFan posted because it's news that's different than my view point.
  16. That’s the internet for you lol. Got up to 69F here... rain started and it’s cooled off to a less historic but still ridiculous 65F.
  17. This is spot on. All you hear about is the stock market from the gov't when they talk about national economic health. But that's been the dichotomy this whole pandemic it seems... all this talk about economic ruin but then every day the stock market holds its own. Very interesting to read about. I know @cpickett79 has been all over that.
  18. The new CoCoRAHS map is great for tallies. Some east coast Florida totals since October 1st... looks pretty wet. A widespread 12-36".
  19. Already a 20 degree diurnal swing today at 61F by 8am.
  20. Wear a mask, social distance, avoid large groups, be respectful of the situation, but beyond that it’s hard to enforce. Meet in the middle.
  21. 2018 (photo) around this time was the start of the snows in this area. Definitely not this year. Though we also hadn't picked up a decent event like we have this year.
  22. The weenie in me was shocked that there was still a small patch of snow just about rotted gone along the edge of the field next to my place. It has been so warm, for so many days. 4 or 5 straight record highs on Mansfield? I guess we are lucky to have gotten that one good storm of the season down in town, lol.
  23. As long as you can "quarantine at home before traveling" it's all a moot point. No one knows what you did at home before hand. Lots of folks working from home these days, too. I think Phin and I are on the same page as it penalizes those following the rules as they then see their neighbors going on vacation and having a great time. Like the kid in high school who wants to have fun but follows his parent's guidelines, while all the other kids are having the night of their life at the big bonfire party in the woods behind the High School. Unless the Gov't goes back to "Stay at Home" type stuff, after a few weekends of ski season I think most will feel comfortable... but still sucks the state wants to put people in the position of lying. That's a very Vermont thing to do... make a rule based on honor or morals.
